Wanted: 4" coil for a Tesoro Scout

Yes, we're the original ba*tard country having been invaded by just about everyone (the Romans (43 AD), Anglo-Saxons (c. 450 AD), Vikings/Danes (8th-11th century), and Normans (1066) but on a positive note they've left a lot of artifacts with still more to be found!

Wanted: 4" coil for a Tesoro Scout

Great how different countries have different names for things! Well done finding the cover, a very satisfying result! Mate of mine found a $2k antique gold & diamond ring on his local beach yesterday. Work crews are digging the shingle to put in new sea defences & it must’ve been churned up by...

Wanted: 4" coil for a Tesoro Scout

Hi Odanscoils, its the 8" coil with the hole in the centre. I think its known as the polo coil after a type of mint flavoured confectionary sold here in the UK which also has a central hole in it.

Wanted: 4" coil for a Tesoro Scout

Hi Wheaty Mike, have you thought any more about selling your 4" coil? I'm still interested in acquiring one for my Scout!

Wanted: 4" coil for a Tesoro Scout

Hi Odanscoils, I’ve managed to source a Thames Scout in the UK but with the standard Polo coil so still looking out for a 4” sniper coil.

Wanted: 4" coil for a Tesoro Scout

Ok I'll keep a look out. Golden Sabre, nice machine! I'm looking for the 4" for my Scout. The River Thames in London where I search is full of ferrous so the smaller the coil, the better it is getting the decent finds amongst the trash.

We're lucky the soil in the UK has no mineralisation. The only iron is generally man made pollution (especially in the Thames with a couple of thousand years of industry along the foreshore) with the very occasional hot rock. I might try the standard 8" coil to see how it handles the Thames trash.

Wanted: 4" coil for a Tesoro Scout

Hi Odanscoils, The term foreshore generally refers to the area of river bed that is exposed when the tide goes out. On the Thames you can wade in the shallows but not for example, wade deep or snorkel/dive as it is a working & fast flowing river between mean high & mean low with lots of...

Wanted: 4" coil for a Tesoro Scout

Hi Odanscoils, Thanks for the photo's & info. I see what you mean by Tesoro used the same circuit boards. I'm guessing because some of the casings were pretty much the same shape? (thinking of the Scout, Rapier, Trident & Hawkeye). I'll definitely contact Dave & ask if a Compadre can be tweaked...

Wanted: 4" coil for a Tesoro Scout

You can potentially search most rivers if you have permission from the owner of the land the river runs through but the Thames comes under a professional jurisdiction hence the permits required. There are still companies that provide organised group trips to the foreshore so you learn the...
