    Key date buffalo! :clapping:

1921 S. Stupid patina ruined it. It has great detail too. Just wish it didn't get discolored

    Finally!

My first barber and my 30th silver with the ctx! Otherwise not a very productive day. Three wheats. One is a 1911 waiting for the olive oil to do its thing so I can find out if it has a mint mark :)

Found a brass ring? Marked 18k?

Hey guys, I found this the other day at a circa 1890 house. Looks like any other period brass ring to me but it has an18k stamp on it. Out of curiosity I made a small scratch to see what was under the corrosion... Looks very much like gold. Hmmm.... Should I clean it or leave it? I mean... I...

Got out for a bit and I was rewarded with some nice silver! Had a blast! I'm still waiting for those barbers to start showing up though :/

31" sampson T handle tool question

Just ordered my 31" sampson digging tool and I was wondering about if its going to be long enough that won't have to bend down while using it. I currently have a 27" lil spade shovel that I like but it's really to short. It puts me in that awkward bent over position and its killing my back. I'm...

Some fun finds from today including a WWI or II button?

I know the back of this isn't that clean yet but any thoughts as to what era? Stoked about that merc too. Looks like it got dropped the day it was minted :)

    My first Indian!

I went back to hunt a 1905 house today for the second time. Right off the bat I got a high tone mixed in with a medium tone. It sounded like combined mode was having trouble deciphering what bin to put the target in. The machine was reading 7-8 inches and bouncing from 12:43 to 12:35. I dug down...

A few from today... And a silvah!

Got out for a couple hours. Cleared a bunch of clad from the top and the switched over to deep. Combined, ferrous coin, auto +3, gone hunting and then open screen, gain 30, low and slow. 1919 D merc and a 1909 VDB wheat among others.

    Unique token?

I was out on some property that had a circa 1890's house on it at one point. Only hunted for about 20 minutes but I did manage to get what appears to be an old token of some sort? Not in very good shape. It came in at 12-43 in ferrous coin, auto +3, combined, fast off, deep off @ 7" anyone ever...

    Pinpointing question

I'm wondering if there might be an issue with the pinpointer on my machine? When I activate it it seems to work half the time and the other half of the time it is kinda transient. I can hold down the trigger and it will pinpoint for a few seconds and then go silent while over a target, and then...

    Some silver from today

Well... I know they're not barbers... Or seated... Or even Mercs but I'll take'm! I was hunting around an abandoned house built around the 30's. lots and lots of coins to clear out still. We'll see... Maybe I'll get lucky? South west Idaho sure makes you work for'm that's for sure!

    Dated ring? Made out of?

Found this by a foundation that belonged to a circa 1890's house. Lots of older coins found here the oldest of which was a 1909 VDB wheat. It's very heavy and is about the size of a quarter. The design around the edge was crudely etched. I made a very small scratch on the inner band and it...

    Has anyone ever...

Anyone ever run a nugget or two under thier CTX? I know it's not a prospecting machine but I plan on doin some relic hunting in an area known for nuggets. Was just wondering. I don't think it would have a problem hitting a 1/2 oz at all :)

    Some interesting finds from yesterday

Well, I set out to hunt a school that was built in 1900 and condemned in 1945. Turns out that after a 45 min drive the school has been fenced off and plastered with no trespassing signs. I noticed a small house behind the school so I thought I'd inquire as to who owns the property. A very grumpy...

CTX finds funny token. Need help:goodnight:

Not sure how appropriate this coin is but I would love to know who makes it and how old it is? Funny part? It was found in the front yard of a church built in 1905. It was about 7 inches down so I assume it's been there a while because I've been diggin other coins there at that depth that date...

Things I've found on my first battery charge. :clapping:

Although I've got quite a few hours under my belt now, I thought it would be a fun experiment to document my finds with the CTX during it's first battery life. I've been meaning to post this for about a month now but anyways... here it is. I charged it, I detected 5 or six times before the...

    What's your approach?

I'm working up the nerve to ask some property owners for permission to hunt their yards. I've tried a few times with zero success (which I expected). My approach was something similar to this " hi there, my name is Brandon. I live around here and and in passing I couldn't help but notice this...

    Alright... Nickels? What's your secret?

What's your method of determining nickels from can slaw? I pretty consistently get a 12-14 for nickels. I'm using combined and I double check with 50 CO and target trace. It's been hard for me to distinguish when I'm getting very solid numbers and sounds in all directions. I've noticed that...

    Need help cleaning coins

I know that cleaning coins can greatly reduce value... But there really isn't much value to these coins. I've just got a few non key date wheats from a particular site that are encrusted in a very hard concrete like substance. What would be the best way to go about making these babies legible...
