    jayhop -- do the Minelab cam locks not have a thumb-screw adjustment for clamping tension? If they do, are you saying that event tightening the adjustment screw, you can't get the clamping tension adjusted to the point where the shaft stops twisting? Steve

Those plastic threaded inserts, that are installed into plastic so as to allow a screw to be "screwed in," can certainly be damaged if the screws are over-tightened. The same thing can happen when threaded inserts are installed into wood -- too much tension on...

    Yes, the 700/900 surprised me. I fully expected the "successor" to the Equinox (whenever it would be released i.e. which is now the Manticore) would most certainly have a nice carbon-fiber shaft with proper cam locks, as there is no doubt Minelab was "paying attention" to the aftermarket...

    NOPE. Absolutely, positively not. On an Equinox, the "watertight seal" DOES NOT OCCUR at the handle-to-shaft interface. Take your handle apart and remove it from the shaft, and note that there is NO RUBBER GASKET OR O-RING between the two parts of the handle that fit together around the shaft...
