What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

Sorry Vito but I believe the CZ-21 is always in salt mode so any low/mid conductor much smaller than 0.5 grams is going to be missed. The CZ-3D had a way to turn off salt mode by using normal mode. It was capable of more sensitivity on small low and mid conductors but it isn’t fully waterproof...

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

As others have said CZ and Excal are not known for their micro target abilities or for small gold prospecting. Being great in saltwater often means not so great on small targets by default on deeper dive capable detectors. XP Deus 2 is excellent for diving to 66 feet and is a very versatile...

What is the absolute best metal detector for metal detecting in freshwater? (lakes, creeks, and rivers)

CZ and Excal can handle 60 ft depth. Manticore is 16 ft max depth. XP Deus 2 can handle 60ft max depth and can do submerged small gold nugget prospecting, micro jewelry and silver coin detecting

If you could only USE the ???

Manticore Manticore Gold: Manticore. Gold as in gold jewelry, micro jewelry and gold nugget prospecting Silver: at least where I detect Manticore wins because of the next question. It's not close. Multi IQ is far superior in the dirt conditions here for all deep target detecting compared to...

    Vanquish 360

The only way to really know is for an independent engineer to do some major testing on these models. That has not been done as far as I know. There was some extensive testing of the Equinox 800 by Carl Moreland of Geotech a few years ago. It uses basically the same Multi IQ technology as the...

Garrett Goldmaster 24K as a coin / jewelry / relic machine

X-Terra Elite is similar to the Equinox models. It has multi frequency and single frequency choices. X-Terra Pro only has single frequency options. Highest is 15 kHz. Not high enough for micro jewelry hunting compared to a lot of other SMF detectors.

Garrett Goldmaster 24K as a coin / jewelry / relic machine

As far as a single frequency gold prospecting VLF detector, Garrett really did not have one at the time they bought Whites and they needed one for the African market. The Goldmaster 24K at that time was from many people's experience, the top of the line higher single frequency gold prospecting...

Garrett Goldmaster 24K as a coin / jewelry / relic machine

Garrett would have to totally replace the V3i's simultaneous multi frequency tech for me to buy one. That SMF tech works very poorly here where I detect. No way I would park my Manticore for the original V3i. Equinox models, Manticore, Goldmonster 2000, Legend 1 & 2, Deus 1, Orx, Deus 2...

Garrett Goldmaster 24K as a coin / jewelry / relic machine

Garrett/Whites Goldmaster 24K is definitely a VLF. It's single frequency 48 kHz so it is geared for smaller target gold prospecting. It has Whites XGB ground balance tech which is really good if the soil isn't too mineralized whether magnetite or salt. Not the best choice for saltwater beaches...

    All these testers

Absolutely JCR. I hunted an area that was absolutely loaded with 1800s square nails yesterday along with ground that is full of magnetite and it was just thawing out from being frozen at 10,000 feet elevation. Even coin sized targets deeper than 2 or 3" had very degraded audio and target ID...

    T2+ on gold nuggets

I have used a T2+ for gold prospecting. It will work if the gold nuggets in the area are big enough and not deep and the ground in the area isn't too mineralized. The nugget small size limit for me was right around 0.2 grams with the T2+ if those nuggets were below the surface even an inch or...

    Question about unspendable pennies!

If US zinc pennies are still recognizable as a full penny after an hour in the tumbler, I roll them and take them to my bank to deposit. Some are pock marked and disgusting but if I can still tell they are a zincoln they get rolled. BMO bank sends all rolled US coins brought in by customers to...

Some reflections on the current state of silver coin hunting

90% of my hunting is in public parks with tons of modern aluminum and steel trash and very magnetite mineralized dirt. I have had no issues finding hundreds of older wheats, IHPs, V and Buffalo nickels, silver dimes and quarters in and below all of that modern trash especially in these...

    Legend 2, does it justify….

Is this your first detector with just icons like the Legend and Score series? Did it come with a hard copy of the manual? Gary Blackwell YouTube Channel "The Skill School" did a really good introduction to all the Legend 2 Menu settings. Have you seen that video? He also did an advanced setting...

    First Park Hunt With V4.1

Thanks. Finding older silver in supposedly hunted out public parks has been pretty impressive. I really like the Legend 2 two tone to full tone audio. It is less "digital "than Legend 1 and has a very refined, musical quality. Legend 2's VCO Pitch tones are also really good. Legend 2 still needs...

    Legend 2, does it justify….

8x5.5” coil and wireless Bluetooth headphones are included. The stock 11” coil is very lightweight too.

    Will Deus 1 be obsolete?

Ground mineralization where I detect determines whether a VLF is obsolete or not. Deus 2 can detect AND identify coin sized targets at 9 to 11” depth where I detect. Deus 1 might hit a 9” deep coin here but it will respond as iron. It could only accurately identify 4” or shallower targets. So...
