xp deus 2 13" coil battery life?

I'm in the process of replacing the battery on my 9". The Deus is getting about to that age where a well-used one will start seeing a faster depletion of the battery. My X35 is still in pretty good shape because I don't use it much. Now if USPS could just get mine to me. I ordered it 9 days ago...

Music lovers thread - Post current listening interests. favorites, share share share

I've played the guitar since I was 8 years old. Played my first gig as a band in 1969, and my last in 1989. With the band SWITCH we recorded an album in 1987. We were the first band in Kansas to master digitally. I love my old CCR, but I clicked more with the 80s metal. The peak of guitar talent...

Looking for a video of replacing the 9" HF coil battery on the Deus

Thanks but the 9" HF coil is different than the stock coils. The battery is in the shaft.

Looking for a video of replacing the 9" HF coil battery on the Deus

I'm replacing the battery on my Deus with the 9" round HF coil and would like to find a good how-to video. I have seen some showing buying a new 9" coil and installing the battery, but I won't have the kit just the battery I believe. I need a video showing how best to replace the current battery...

    Legend V1.14 Beta

I got the impression there are two changes. 1. DTi. Deep target ID. This "feature" is said, by Nokta, to give more VDI info deeper. 2. "Beast mode" which sounds to me like a tweak in the ground balance to give a bit more depth, at the cost of stability. I took this as doing the same as if you...

Manticore Depth Test Result - Not too impressed

Not to change the subject, but I do like how everything seems to be shifting from depth tp target ID. I think we have all pretty much accepted that the depth of current VLF technology has reached maximum. Now it is separation and target ID that take center stage. I like it. Saves me a lot of...

Manticore Depth Test Result - Not too impressed

Each detector manufacturer is going to make a claim of better this, and better that. In the end, we always find out they pretty much all share the same limited technology, just used in different ways, for the most part. These differences can make a difference depending on the conditions. You get...

    Manticore

Manufacturers have reduced the number of target ID segments over the last few years. The days of telling a clad dime from a silver one are all but over. I guess not enough users felt that target ID was much of a thing a few years ago. I used it a lot and it is even more important to me now than...

Have to start digging those zinc pennies?

No beaches here in southwest Kansas, but I treat my tot lots like I would a beach. I recover it all. My requirements are a bit higher in parks & playgrounds. Apparently, my luck runs pretty well for a dirt fisher. Generally, I'll find at least a piece of jewelry every other hunt. If I go 4 hunts...

Have to start digging those zinc pennies?

One of the positive points of getting old and developing physical limitations is that you start being a bit more selective about your recoveries. Some 20 years ago if there was a tone, I dug a hole. Now I spend more time analyzing each target. What I have learned is, despite what a lot of...

Why are the Whites TRX Pinpointers in such demand???

I didn't know they were in demand. I had one and didn't care for it at all. Went back to my Carrott.

Best repair for the remote clip on the shaft

Not sure? I never take the remote off but when I charge it. It just fell off the other day while out hunting, and I looked to see why and saw one of the prongs was broken. I used Gorilla Glue on it and it is working, but I'd feel better with a new holder. Now that I look at it, it looks like...

Best repair for the remote clip on the shaft

My clip that holds the remote on the shaft broke. For those who have had to fix this, what works best? Thanks

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Metal Detectors

I think A.I. will be a game changer for metal detecting. You swing your coil over a possible target, and if you're lucky, you see 1/3 of the VDI numbers used to help determine a possible ID. An algorithm on a chip can see those 30 swings and in a split second take the real-time ground...

Xy screen when targets too deep?

The X/Y screen is like all the other VDIs, they are only helpful to around 6" in regular soil. On deep conductive targets, I've noticed I get more of a circular pattern on the X/Y. It does show as small and I can use it to a small degree to tell me it is something deep.

    Do You Ground Balance

Yes. before every hunt, with no exceptions. Sometimes I'll GB several times at the same location if I hear a change in ground conditions.

Tell us how long you been Metal Detecting

I'm right there at 50 years. I started in the early 70s with a BFO I bought at a garage sale. I didn't really get serious until a few years later when the first TRs came out.

Why would I want to buy an old Explorer these days?

I had the Explorer SE and in my experience, it was every bit as deep as ANY detector today. Yes, it was heavy compared to the new lightweight designs used today on even the $250 models, but it still can rock the deep silver with the best. I have owned the Equinox 800 & Deus 1 and 2. My main...

    Thinking About Down Sizing

The E-Trac is still my go-to detector for cherry picking coins at extreme depths. I've owned the Equinox 800 and currently the XP Deus 2. If I've cleaned a site where my E-Trac no longer produces, I have found nothing that will.
