    etrac descrimination

I have a question about the idea discrimination settings for the e-trac. What discrimination settings do you use when hunting in very trashy ground? Do you keep the discrimination open, or run a very tight discrimination pattern? Or maybe somewhere in-between? I haven't been very successful...

buffalo Nickels - Where are you hiding?

I've been detecting for almost a year now and I think I've been fairly successful for a beginner. I've had decent luck finding all kinds of silver coins. In less than a year of detecting, I have found one barber dime, over 30 silver dimes mercs/rosies, a standing liberty quarter, 11 silver...

    e-trac learning curve

I've had my e-trac for a couple weeks at this point, and have put in my "50 hours" to learn the machine. I've also read through Andy's great book about the e-trac. All I can say is that I think I'll need 50 more hours. Although I've pulled a few silver coins and wheats with the new machine...

    e-trac initial impressions

I've had my e-trac for about a week, and have found around 15 wheat pennies, a merc, two silver rosies, a silver washington, and lots of clad. I don't seem to get much deeper than my old White's M6, but I am pulling targets out of trashy areas that my White's couldn't handle. The machine...

    gain - low or high?

Do you set your gain low or high, and why? I seem to find deep targets more easily with lower gain because they come in as a clean whisper.

will standard coin mode find nickels?

I set up my e-trac on the standard minelab coin mode, and only pulled one nickel during my hunt. I kept watching for 12-13 and similar #s, but they didn't want to show up.

first day with my e-trac - I like it!

I got my e-trac in today and went out for my first hunt. At first I was worried about the lag in displaying the fe-co numbers, but I quickly got accustomed to it. I went to a local park I thought had hunted out with my old detector, and all I can say it WOW! I only worked a small section of...

    sunray probe installation

I'm setting up a sunray probe for my new e-trac. Is the coil cable still supposed to run inside the lower rod, or do I need to pull the out and run it around the outside of the lower rod? Is running it outside an issue?

just got my e-trac in, first question is....

I'm playing around in a test garden with some dimes, pennies, quarters, trash, etc. How can I get the display to refresh the fe-co reading more quickly as I pass from one target to the next? There seems to be a really bad lag, and I often have to sweep over the next target quite a few times...

odd, the title of the listing is for wireless headphones, not a detector.

My Minelab Blows the Vision Away for Depth

I'm glad we're back on topic with these wonderful comparisons. Now lets compare apples with apples in terms of price. My sense, based on observation of reported results, is that in most ground conditions, the e-trac will outperform the Vision in terms of depth and trash seperation...

    cherry picking those nickels

My e-trac will be delivered on Monday, and one of the things I'm looking forward to is being able to distinguish nickels from tabs. With the White's m6, I hardly ever dug nickels because their VDI range heavily overlapped trash targets, especially on deeper nickels. On the e-trac, If I...

11" DD Search Coil in trash?

I'm impatiently awaiting the arrival of my new e-trac. I haven't invested in any extra coils yet, but how well does the 11" DD Search Coil do in trash?

11" DD Search Coil performance in trashy areas

I'm impatiently awaiting the arrival of my new e-trac. I haven't invested in any extra coils yet, but how well does the 11" DD Search Coil do in trash?

e-trac menu buttons - easy to push?

I just ordered an e-trac from Kellyco. This is my first Minelab (I've always been with White's) and I was just curious how easy the menu buttons on the e-trac are to push. Will wearing leather gloves be an issue? Are the buttons fairly abrasion resistant?

thinking about upgrading to the e-trac from my White's M6

I've been researching a detector upgrade from my M6, and the e-trac seems to be the right unit for my detecting goals. My only unanswered question is about quality. How would you grade Minelabs' overall build-quality and durability? Thanks.

    M6 vs Vision

I'm considering an upgrade from my m6 to the vision too. How does performance on deep coins compare? (assuming soil, moisture, etc are all equal)

    Why Was The Vision Produced?

There is a definitely a market for the Vision, and all early indications are that it will be a superb all around detector, great for coins, relics, prospecting, and all-around use. This price point is tailored to "top-of-the-line", but I'm definitely considering an upgrade to the Vision from...

I surely understand the desire to keep the Vision forum on topic, just like the E-trac when it first came out,

Not detailed reports. Just preliminary comparisons based on initial observations. Most experienced detectors who will be buying this high-end machine understand that results vary from place to place, and with the level of familiarity with a detector. I think the Vision looks like it is a...
