continuing thought on lack of beach finds......

I can remember in Daytona Beach back in the 60's and 70's, you couldn't throw a rock or shell without hitting a vendor truck. They used to rent floats, chairs and umbrellas, little honda scooters, not to mention various foods. But now, you rarely see a vendor truck on the beach. I don't think...

Where did all the metal detectors go.

I think I have finally figured out where all the used detectors have gone thanks to all the responses. They are being hoarded hahahaha!

Any Siesta Keys beach hunters here ??

I remember 20 or so years ago trying to detect Siesta Key, Fort Desoto beach and Sanibel Island and it was a no go. Fort Desoto was posted, can't remember about the other two.

Any Siesta Keys beach hunters here ??

Well especially if you go during spring break, you will find wall to wall people all along both the east and west coast beaches and it will be that way until after the first week in April. I'm not sure, but that last time I checked that area Especially Siesta Key, there were no metal detecting...

Where did all the metal detectors go.

I know what you mean Sand, I owned a few guitars in my day as well and the funny thing is, I can't play a lick on any of them. I thought for sure a new guitar was going to make me play like a rock star, but after number 5 I realized it was never the guitar. It was me. It's hard to learn to play...

    Fisher Coinstrike

Well if you want to put yours to pasture let me know, I'll take it off your hands. Mine finally bit the dust and I'm missing it. The C$ was my favorite machine.

Dan, if I could afford one I would keep it too.

continuing thought on lack of beach finds......

You also have to consider just how many people are metal detecting now compared to years past, I think everyone who goes to the beach has a metal detector. I'm constantly ignoring people who see me metal detecting and want to be my buddy or emailing or PMing me looking for a friend who just...

    Beach confusion…

Well one problem you had was it was a Sea Turtle nesting site, which is why they didn't allow metal digging tools. The sign was very specific and you should have obeyed it. They could not only have fined you, but also confiscated your equipment. If I see a sign like that, I put my equipment back...

(Want to buy) (Want to Buy) Detector Pro metal detector

If you are looking for a wader, why not consider the newer machines that can go 15 feet in the water like the Garrett AT pro, Minelab xterra, Nokta Simplex series.

Well how about sharing some pics of those gold finds.

    Garrett deep seeker coin finder

I disagree. Those old Garretts can still hunt as long as it turns on and beeps over metal. That was a high end machine at one time. Is there better detectors on the market? There will always be better detectors on the market no matter how old or new your detector is. I would give it and your...

Where did all the metal detectors go.

And yet Dirt, you own more detectors than you have arms to swing. So go ahead and admit to yourself that even if your not one of these buy and try guys, you are a detector hoarder and bask in the reality along with the rest of us. It's OK, you don't have feel ashamed, we aren't judging you we...

Where did all the metal detectors go.

Those Troy's were some great detectors.

Where did all the metal detectors go.

I used to tell myself and my wife that same thing until that new shiny detector caught my eye. All it would take is a buy and try guy post how wonderful that machine was and it could detect a dime at 12 plus inches in a field full of nails, horse shoes, being embedded in concrete with 6" of...

Where did all the metal detectors go.

That might be true for some, but Fishers, Whites and Garretts seem to hold a decent resale value like F75's, CZ5's, 3d's AT pro's, MXT's., Tesoro's. To me, it's the newer machines that are taking a beating.
