Two Hour Spin with the AQ

I feel his pain! Probably should have brought the Excal as the waves were near non-existent yet I have been finding lots of targets on the slope. Most of the folks I see focus on the shoreline. I suppose my technique is a bit unorthodox, but it has seemed to work as of late. Thanks for sharing.

Two Hour Spin with the AQ

Thanks! Yeah...the bracelet elation was short-lived. I wasn't sure if it was real until I got home, but it kept me going (third target) in the 100 degree weather. I am beginning to think the 8" coil is pretty hot. I also would like to thank the Manticore users for finding all the pull-tabs! I...

Two Hour Spin with the AQ

Had a couple hours of fun, yesterday. The tennis bracelet looked incredible coming out of the sand. Unfortunately, along with the other items, proved to be junk. Still using (and really enjoying) the 8" coil. Didn't change any previous settings, yet it ran rather stable. HH

Be careful, Joe. You are on the verge of offending someone. LOL

Fisher AQ Finishes Strong for the Week

Had an enjoyable few days with several targets recovered. Brought the Excal for some deeper water hunting, but the waves were too much of a challenge. I am enjoying the first week with the 8" coil. A nice 925 chain, another chain (costume), and four rings. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Had...

A Few Hours With the Impulse AQ

Found a gold earring on the first hunt( two years ago), but silver mostly. Certainly not the detector. I attribute it mostly to not getting out enough. Trying to work on that.

A Few Hours With the Impulse AQ

I didn't notice a difference in depth; however, the threshold was significantly better along the shore. The 12" seems to "swoosh" a lot regardless of where it is used. In the water, just as much falsing as the 12". Probably need to tinker with the settings, but I was just enjoying the day. I did...

A Few Hours With the Impulse AQ

Not a bad few hours with the Impulse. Recently purchased the 8" coil (and another AQ) and got into a nice line on the slope. Three other detectorists were pounding the shore line so I stayed clear. The chain is 925 and about 22". The ring is stainless but cool, nonetheless. HH

Anyone still using a Tesoro sand or tiger shark?

About 12 years ago, I sold a Sand Shark with an Anderson shaft and scoop (it was mint) to a young girl (12 or so) and her dad for $200. When he saw it, he said he didn't realize what an incredible deal it was (maybe thought he was buying a BH). The little girl's smile said it all. Hope she...

    BBS 800 Coil Compatibility

Thanks, Joe. I ended up re-sheathing a couple of the coils and soldering a new connector. Seem to be working well. I have four more and all but one still have the six-pin connectors. Should be ideal candidates for re-sheathing as well.

    BBS 800 Coil Compatibility

Thanks, Rick. Looks like we have similar issues. I have three red wires and one yellow. Someone did half of the repair. Nothing at all sounds appealing regarding removing the epoxy. Think I will solder the new connector and see if it works. Stay tuned...

    BBS 800 Coil Compatibility

I have the two sets of wires identified. One set reads 2 ohms. Just wondering what would result (+ -, TX/Rec) if I solder them backwards. I realize it won't work, but am worried about damaging the board. Thanks for the help. I have the wires narrowed down to two pairs. Just wondering what might...

    BBS 800 Coil Compatibility

Looks like someone repaired the coil as the sheathing still has the part number/data. Also, the connector has epoxy built up where they, presumably, soldered the wire. Unfortunately, they never installed a connector. I suppose I can remove the four-pin connector from the other coil and use...

    BBS 800 Coil Compatibility

Recently found out I have two of the BBS 800 coils, one with a 4 pin connector and one with four wires (three red and one yellow/green). Tried ohmming the wires to each other; no continuity. The red and black wires on the Tornado coil have continuity. This leads me to believe I might have a bad...

I get to the beach with my AQ then this happens…

Happened twice to me. The first time, FT replaced it for free. The second time, they offered a replacement for $39. Still need to reinforce it using Joe's recommendations.

    BBS 800 Coil Compatibility

Thanks for the info, Rick. I tend to think someone replaced the connector, too. Going to order a few connectors as I have a couple of the 10" Tornado coils and an FBS as well that are in dire need of new sheathing. I ordered some marine grade heat shrink (at least that is what it says).

    BBS 800 Coil Compatibility

Appreciate the insight. I have a GT and an Elite and noticed they are six pins, like you have shown. I found an older post that mentioned being able to install the six pin connector with the four wires on a (presumably older) coil. Just wondering if that's the case and, if so, the coil would...

Any idea what this coil fits? It has a four-pin connector. Thanks.
