    Flagpole Topper

Just found this flag topper today. It's really banged up, but I'd appreciate any opinions on it's age. Found at a site where I have made several Civil War era finds. Do you think it's period?

Found this shield at a Civil War site. Looks like a small buckle. Maybe horse tack??? Any ideas, please let me know. Thanks!

    Civil War saddle shield!

Found this old saddle shield, but didn't know what I had until I got it home and cleaned it up. "Allegheny Arsenal 1863". Hard to see, but the saddle size is also stamped just above the slot... "3". Here's an article I would highly recommend about the tragedy which occurred at the Allegheny...

    Any clues on this one??

Found this in an area with some civil war activity. The 2 slits look very similar to something you might find on a harmonica reed. Appears to be made of brass - very light weight. Any ideas?

Great day in the woods today - video of live recovery will be up on YouTube tonight...

For you bullet experts out there...

I found two identical 3-ringers last weekend, but they sure look different than the "normal" 3-ringers I see dug. The first pic features the 2 bullets I found. They appear to be nose cast with the sprue at the tip of the bullet. The next pic shows one of the bullets next to a "normal" 3-ringer...

    Possible Slave Tag??

I'm hoping there's a slave tag expert out there... Found what looks to be a slave tag while hunting an old NC plantation property. Made of brass and may not be complete - looks like the top part may have been torn off. Has the letter "B" and the number "21". Nothing on the back side. Piece is...

    1864 Lincoln Presidential Campaign token!

Penny signal 12/38 on the E-Trac about 5" deep while hunting a Civil War travel route. Very nice surprise! Not in very good condition, but I'll take it. Reverse features Abe's running mate, Andrew Johnson.

    3-Cent Silver with E-Trac!

Pull tab type numbers ranging from 9/26 - 11/27, but there was something about the tone on this one that said, "dig me"! It was a quick, clear tone that didn't warble at all. This little guy was only about 3" down. I just love the 8x6 SEF coil on my E-Trac! Really helps sniff out the good...

    Stunning Confederate VA button!

Found this last month where I live in North Carolina. Still amazed at how it has survived in the soil for 150+ years!

    Possible old US military medal?

Found this on some very old property in NC. Families have lived here since the mid-1700's and they have quite a bit of military history. Looks like this small old medal was gold gilded at one time. Hoping someone out there can ID it. Based on my limited knowledge it appears to be pre-Civil War...

    Possible VA Confederate button??

Found a Virginia State Seal button today. Is this Confederate? Back mark says "Canfield Bro & Co. Baltimore".

Need help with this old military button...

Maker's mark on the back says "Lewis & Tomes Extra Rich". Button diameter is about 7/8". Can anyone help identify when this was made and what branch of military it pertains to? Thanks in advance...

Found these 2 buttons about 20 feet apart...

Now, I'm no Civil War expert, but isn't the first button Confederate and the second button Union? Found them hunting an old plantation site in NC. No battles were recorded here, however, there was a lot of troop activity in this area.
