    As already said, I don’t think you’ll pick up a gas line that deep but it may depend on the diameter of the line.

    Keep in mind he is comparing the Apex to a detector that cost almost 3 times as much. All the reviews I read and saw were very good. I’m only interested in how it compares to the Pro.

    Thanks for your reply, it is very helpful. Which coil do you use on the Apex? I’m leaning towards the viper but the 8.5 x 11 is supposed to be a little deeper. I can’t imagine by much though and the viper I suspect is lighter.

    I do have the 5x8 as well and it does the same. I have contacted Garrett and they suggested a factory reset which I’ve done several times, and reducing sensitivity. At this point I’m planning on selling it in the near future and getting an Apex.

    That’s good to hear. I’ve read other comments from guys who said their 400 does the same. It’s out of warranty now, I haven’t used it much and just figured the falsing was due to not being as good of quality as the Pro.

    I recently did some bench testing with my stock coil and the 5x8 and was amazed at how close they are in depth. Tested numerous coins and the stock coil was only deeper by about 1” on average, sometimes less than that. I used the same settings for both coils.

    That’s good to hear for my sake. I didn’t know if that was pretty much the limit for an AT Pro or if I’m using too much discrimination. I primarily hunt parks and schools and I generally notch out up to 50 to cut down on some of the trash. Getting too old and back is too stiff to dig everything.

    What is the deepest coin you have ever dug with an AT Pro that was giving a VDI # that gave you the impression it could be a coin even if it was jumpy. I have never dug a coin any deeper than 6-7” in 8 years with my Pro. Maybe I’m expecting too much from the VDI.
