    Rare opium tin box

Sometimes, we bring all our metal home and we are so busy digging it up, we don't really realize what we've rescued from history. Such is the case today, when it seemed to be an uneventful day out in the sunshine. That is, until I got home and went through my finds. I went back to my honey hole...

    Not Always Bucketlisters

So I thought I'd post some of my finds from today, to show you I find average stuff too. Not everything I dig is a bucketlister. The seated dime I posted the other day, doesn't happen often. I dig a lot of pull tabs, bottle caps, pop cans, and misc. trash. Because you never know what you have...

    Today's Dig, A Mix

As soon as I started on this sidewalk tear out, a carpenter bird dogged me and was baffled with what I was doing. I did not get in his way, or was anywhere close to where he was working. He just seemed to think someone swore him in as the sidewalk police. He started by telling me it was private...

More gold in me path! Must be the Luck O the Irish?

Not sure why I'm finding so many gold rings lately? But maybe because I'm still digging all the pull tab signals? Found it with my other DFX300 and a standard 8"coil. It rang in at 20 on the VDI and is 9K. Or .375 as it's marked. As soon as I dug it, a cook from a local dining hall came out to...

A Little Silver and a Little Gold

The gold streak continues! I Hit an estate sale on Friday with my wife and didn't find much to mention, but I asked the lady if I could detect the property, it was on the lake and it looked Old! She said yes. Woot! I can't tell you how many times that has worked out for me, but more often than...

Back on the board with silver from the tot lot

Yep, .925 from the tot lot. I haven't found anything of significant value in the tot4 lots before, but today was a good day. This looks like Art Deco style to me and it rang up 81 on the DFX, with the standard 8" coil. I bounce back and forth between the V3i and the DFX. Sometimes I'll cry the...

    Heart Motors Key Fob!

This was also a great find, it appears from my research, Heart Motors was in business in CDA in 1925-27. My friend says it's a key fob, I'm not so sure. What I do know is it's rare and desireable. I love to dig history and I have a deep desire for passion over profit. But money helps.

Today's short dig, silver, dog tags, pesos, and wheats

Here's a couple of shots of Today's unusual short dig, 36 silver, dog tag, 9 pesos, and 8 wheats, ranging from 1920-57. But most of the wheats were from 29-40. I'm excited about the dog tax tag from 1931. At first I thought it said 81 or 91, but with a little closer inspection, it became...

Brush busting produces new finds on old hunted out spots

In a a small town like CDA, Idaho, it gets a little frustrating finding new spots to produce good finds. It seems like we go to the same old hunted out spots and once in a while we find something everybody missed. My best success I have is going where no man has gone before. So this time I'm...

    Gold Streak Continues!

Took my 54th birthday and went to the local park to find some old coins, but none. Just lots of clad, and one nice gold earring. Marked 585 FB. .585 is the European equivalent of 14K and the FB is the makers hallmark. It was heavy and the melt value was 80.00. The rest was kinda boring and it...

    Gold Finds Me!

Wow, had an interesting hunt. I went to an empty lot I saw from the highway today, and found very little. I then went to a small park not far from there and had just a little more time to hunt. While digging a fair amount of pull tabs and the like, plus some quarters and sundry clad change. I...

Yep, you read that right, I found my first Rolex watch on Saturday Morning. But the catch is, it's a fake! But boy did my heart start racing when I pulled back the plug and saw the glimmer of gold at the bottom of the hole. I knew right away I had found an imitation, because there was no writing...

    Silver In The Rain

I really love to detect, even if it's raining and it's winter time. The winter weather gets me digging where I usually don't go in the summer weather. Pulled this out of the lake at an undisclosed location, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it. A 1940 Jefferson. All kinds of detectors...
