ghost town gives it up to 705 again!

this wheat field has given me my oldest coins by far. there's tons of old iron/trash in the ground. i just wish the drive wasn't so long. the back of the 1905 penny was so crusty i didn't include the picture. (10.5 DD MF coil)

run over with a plow but i'll take it!!

my first barber dime (also my oldest coin so far) and it was hit really bad by a plow putting in this years winter wheat. also my first model T key, (i had to look it up) the bottom half of the key is broken off and it was too dirty to read anything so i almost trashed it. the back of it has...

    ghost town finds

as you drive along these dirt roads in the middle of ag. fields that are measured in square miles to the horizon, all you will see is green winter wheat thats about 2 inches tall so far. out here in 1894 there was a post office, stockyard, rail station, bank, two grain elevators, implement yard...

could someone re post the link to that shotgun headstamp site, thanks

i lost the link when i changed computers, it was the best headstamp site i have ever seen. i found 2 headstamps at a 1890s town site that is now just a wheat field, no trace of it is left.

    penny signals

i'm fairly new to the 705, but at this point i dig all penny signals even though 95% of the time it's a penny or trash. i started doing this about a month ago and since then i've dug more silver than the last two years put together. old dog just learned a new trick.:beers: just thought i'd put...

    another little piece of 925

only 3 inches down in a public park, i don't know how the other guys have missed this so many times, the area wasn't all that trashy.

    another first.....heavy silver necklace

first time at this spot. 20 inches long, 30.74 grams. this thing was about 3.5" deep and almost completely stretched out in a straight line. i'm still new to this, i don't know how i didn't chop it in half!! i could tell it wasn't a coin size before i dug, but since the area wasn't super trashy...

big skeleton key and butterfly ring

best day so far for "other than coin" items in one day. if anyone can tell me what the marking on the ring is i'd appreciate it, i can't make it out. i used a tooth brush on both of them. the key came from the 30+ acre grounds of a 3 story 55 room mansion built in the 20's, this place has hand...

from happy dance to cruel hoax

i went from happy dance to stomping mad after gently wiping off more dirt from this little b@st@rd. who ever made these things owes me at least a one year supply of my heart medicine. as chris farley said "it was just a cruel hoax". if anyone knows where these things came from i'd like to...

from the last walk along the poison ivy (arkansas river) bank.

i jammed the 10.5 mf through the new little (yearling) poison ivy "whips" bout 14inches tall in the woods. (since winter) really nasty area even for regulars,,, after Many other pieces of iron i found, this will be my last find (dig) from there. the poison ivy etc. will continue to re-claim it...

    1 mill token

since getting my detector and digging up just under 600 individual clad coins so far, this is only the second token i have ever found. i also just found my first rosy dime but i didn't figure anyone would want to see a picture of that since they look the same as current ones. so far only 2 wheat...

    more iron

it was more work to scrub the mud off the chain with a wire brush than it was to dig it up. more nails and poison ivy than you would believe, relic hunting isn't a hobby it's just plain work.

    cowboy iron?

i found these on the edge of a freshly plowed field where there were homesteads along the arkansas river. the whole area is now designated public hunting ground and is controlled by the corp of engineers. left to right.....1. a hook maybe for holding a pot over a cooking fire, not sure. 2. a...

    first gold ever!!!

i cant believe it. i finally found a spot where they obviously pick up the cans before they mow. the ground is super noisy with false iron signals but no slaw!!:clapping: once i realized that i started digging the "trash" signals instead of just coin ID's. this is what i got for digging a solid...

question for 6" coiltek digger coil owners only...

i recently bit the bullet and purchased the 6" digger coil to try out in some of the many high trash areas around town. my question is, it came from the factory with a piece of heavy black tape that wraps around the edge of the seam of the coil and coil cover, what is the tape for? if the tape...

up for auction, struck from the finest brass alloy......

deeply struck from one of mans most sought after alloys, its design so perfect they put it on both sides. after an exhaustive search of the interwebs i found the nearest "minting" location to be almost 100 miles from my small town. having never seen one before (seriously) tells me it is...

need help dating "winchester repeater" headstamp

i found info. that says the "repeater" series was produced from 1896-1938. the ones produced from 1901-1920 had "1901" in place of the word winchester so those years are excluded. that leaves 1896- 1900 or 1921-1938 as the possible production years according to "cartridge corner.com" if anyone...

    JACKPOT!!!!!!! MY FIRST SILVER EVER!!!!!

i still cant believe it, FINALLY!! after digging about 6-7 pounds of clad alone, not even counting all the trash. the only reason they were left is because they were in the middle of an area completely full of bent copper plated nails from a red tile roof tore off a 1928 mansion. the signals...
