A little shiny from the pounded out Park

I think Merc dimes are an absolute beautiful coin. Whatever happen to such beautiful designs? Modern coins SUCK. Very nice finds. Oh, just remembered a rare find for me (first in 11 yrs) on the west coast of Florida - a Merc dime! After years in the Gulf, your examples look a little better.

Manticore Anomaly; When Big is Small

Actually think it is junk metal, possibly brass or color coated SS. I'll do a Specific Gravity test.... The Specific Gravity (SG) of the bracelet is 7.0ish. Here is a list for various precious metals (SG=Factor): Not shown, the SG of SS is usually between 7.5 and 8.0 depending on mixture of...

Manticore Anomaly; When Big is Small

Been working my Manticore w M15 coil for over 2 yrs now and have never came across an anomaly like this one thus the post. I was hunting in Beach Low Conductors and otherwise standard stuff when I came across this bracelet in an extremely heavily hunted area of dry sand beach. In fact, the...

Sanded in week on the Gulf of America

Yes, very slow on west side of Florida and my last 2 hunts, 4-5 hrs each turned up a small spider 925 ring but not much else, not even coins unless you count about 1/hr! It was so slow that I welcomed people to interrupt me while hunting, nothing. When you hunt Winter in Florida, at least west...

    Manticore Tones

Odanscrolls, Goodluck on the wire cross beause you'll need some prayers too. I recently found a wire cross, silver (? can't remember), and the Manti could barely touch it and even worse, when I was finally closing in on it the Manti lost detection of it. Feeling around I found it. But VID 1-3...

Manticore with M15 Coil and Detection of Small Targets

I enjoy browsing the various metal detecting sites and recently came across comments about the M15 coil and its ability or lack thereof to detect small targets. This rose my interest because I became a big coil guy since the CTX3030 17” coil about 10 yrs ago. Have 2 - 15” coils for Equinox 800...

Manticore M9 Coil Demo - Have your Favorites Key Locked and Loaded

I just now looked at a quarter and 14K band - 25c was a VID of 89 and gold band was a VID of 22. When gold band was placed on 25c, but not touching it, I got similar lower horizontal bar as observed in video but I also got a signal at around VID of 89. Nothing at VID of 22. My situation was...

Two wars for the price of one

Really neat badge. The 1864 Indian looks UNC with rim damage (?). It must have been lost very early prob not much after 1864. Here is a breakdown of the values based on the three main types for 1864: 1. 1864 Bronze "L" on Ribbon (Most Valuable) This variety has a tiny "L" (for designer...

Thanks, just ordered Carl Mooreland's "Inside the Metal Detector" 3rd edition. Been looking for an updated book to better understand the inside of a metal detector and Mooreland's fits the bill.

    Interesting history.

Here is a 50 cal casing I pulled from the Gulf recently. Lots of WW2 training and even area where they practiced beach landings. Have yet to get there but history is a lovely thing.

Second hunt of the year and I am on the board with silver!

Must be going around...I also found a silver dime on west coast Florida, a real rarity. Unfortunately, My Merc, possibly 1919, was in the Gulf for a 100 yrs and weighs about 1/2 of a regular dime. But silver is silver.

Back on the Dredged beach for gold and big silver!

Great job! That gold ring given its condition must have been in there for 100+ years. It is happy it has been saved, finally. Nothing worse than being lost forever.
