Colonial site yields another 1781 Hibernia KG III

The 70 acre site I've been working has a hilltop with colonial history. I've dug the usual artifacts such as spoons, buckles and coins. The latest is another 1781 coin.

70 acre farm field - Spanish Silver

Not very deep - 4 inches. The key is that the site doesn't appear to have been worked before. Also, very clean. Appears that the this part of the field has been cleared/plowed for many years.

Flat buttons and a nice dome - shank intact

I'm investigating a 70 acre track of cleared land - checking hilltops, I came across square nails, Iron, brass items, loads of flat buttons, some "Dandy" buttons and this intact dome brass button. So far the silver and copper coins have been 20th century, layered history, older ones hopefully to...

Short hunt - nice 1944 Quarter

Went for a short morning hunt on the West side of my land. Results: broken toy pistol and a nice 1944 Quarter.

Found a pulled .58 Cal Mini Ball

Found this "worm" pulled (weapon did not fire) .58 caliber 3 ring mini ball on my land this evening, just west of the 1940's, 50's and 60's area of habitation I've been working. I'm moving into my wooded area(s) so hopefully they'll be more antiquated relics in that zone. I recovered fragments...

    Nokta Simplex SP24 coil

The VDI number has slightly changed with the SP24 coil installed. The good news is that a nickle registers at exactly "30." This is a great discriminator as the foils and aluminum bits are in the 20's and pull tabs in the low 40's. My machine is killing the "V" and Buffalo nickles. The depth is...

Winged Liberty Dime and a Buffalo Nickle

Went to the 1902 house again this morning. Picked up a 1941 Merc and a 1930 Buffalo Nickle.

1901 V Nickle versus the environment

I picked up a few more finds at the 1902 house I've been working. The ground and time did a number on a 1901 V Nickle. Also some Wheat Cents.

    Nokta Makro Simplex Plus Wireless

This machine is not playing, I have 15 and 20 year old detectors that were good in their day. I decided to get "modern" and looked at every detector on the market. Price not being a hindrance, I could have bought any unit I wanted. It just seemed to make sense to buy the Simplex based upon...

New Nokta Simplex and the 9.5 by 5 inch coil

Took the Simplex to the 1902 built house I've been working. Lots of metal debris, so I decided to try the smaller coil. Depth was fairly good in the coin range of 5 to 7 inches. Good finds, but a well worn 1901 Barber Dime rounded off a two hour hunt.

    New detector first find

T The coins was about 7 in deep. I think any detector could have found it, however, the "Park 1" setting under this latest update seems to be stable and deep seeking. I've got that new 9 in by 5 in coil coming to hit some iron infested areas. Try your machine on max sensitivity (if its' stable)...

    New detector first find

I decided to buy a new detector - after research, and money not being an issue, I still went for the Nokta Makro Simplex +. It is light and fast, detects deep and is an amazing value. I move slightly East on my property, from the 1940's, 50's and 60's era area I have been making finds. I made a...
