Well that didnt work on pennies…..

Here it is, using Gojo. Orange is same stuff I think. I have tried both. I would not use on a nice coin, only ones that need help.

Well that didnt work on pennies…..

Have u tried Orange soaking? I tried it on some rough old nickels, it did help some. Also i use it to tumble plain coins. Best results ive seen, and the stuff is cheap. Ill see if i can find vid.

    Few finds end of year

I think the largest piece of lead may have been a small plumb bob? Small hole in back perhaps held a wedged small cable. Never found a pair of earrings before, must have been in a pocket, they were on surface, costume jewelry.

    Few finds end of year

Found in minneapolis. Odd bullets, small three ring bullet, round lead ball, rifle like bullet but flat nosed. Sleigh bell, looks like brass but rivet attaching it to leather strap must have been plain steel. Couple old nickels and a few silver rings. Cant find much about the token on online...

What is the Best WAY to determine depth with the Deus 2

Deus shows signal strength, calibrated to ring size target. A flicker of signal could be a dime at 8 inches, or it could be tiny copper washer at 2 inches, the detector cannot tell the difference. Likewise a squashed flat aluminum can at 8 inches can sound like a quarter at 1 inch. Luckily...

    Ghost signals

Hmm, low conductive area, there is sometimes gold at 35. What is the duration of tone on a normal sweep? If its not small sized it may be a clue that its a halo. I get them here at 99, sounds like a skeeter storm not a real target.

    Found two silver dimes

Nice tread on those two, early drops.

    Getting Back Into It. Whatzit?

That sounds pretty good. Any evidence of hammering the flat end?

Perhaps it does mean that? But all that came up was the cobbler tools

    Getting Back Into It. Whatzit?

Google brings up Pat'd as an 1800s cobbler tool maker. I did not see this device though.

On this outing did you dig any nails or iron that were giving a similar type of reading, but ended up being false highs.

    Option idea: Reverse Audio response

Yes it would be easy. Until then, your ears trained to faint signals can work.

    XP Deus 2 Depth Concern

Ive been upping audio response to 6 lately. Noticing the deep hits better, its easy to go right by a little chirp sometimes.

    Deus 2 Ground Balance Question

I notice it quiets the machine down, reduces false chirps and skeeters. I use General mostly, gb too low and i start getting lots of skeeter 99s. I believe it does help depth a bit too. I gb around 82-84 in most places here.

    XP Deus 2 Depth Concern

Bury a coin at 8 inches, away from emi. Then do a real test.

Notching and masked signals lowers VDI

I see the result. I would think some sort of Mask Detected alert could be programmed into the software. The simple quick comparative of notch|no notch would seem to yield the info needed. Sounds like an interesting feature for XP to offer in an update.

    A couple keepers yesterday...

I have a hunch 45 nickels ring up higher, at least some of them. I found 5 war nickels this year, all in nickel range, and no 1945. Others have commented some ring up much higher, a bit more copper or silver in them.
