    Legend not keeping time correctly

Tolerances, sample variability and varying usage conditions. Applies to any complex machinery, not just electronics. What works perfectly fine in "normal use" scenarios can exhibit "problems" and sample-to-sample variations when you push its limits. Oftentimes cutting production costs leads to...

    Legend not keeping time correctly

They've just rolled out a "threshold volume update" like yesterday.

    Legend not keeping time correctly

Nope, not that factory reset. The factory reset you do after firmware update only clears the stored "program" values and doesn't affect the clock. There's another sequence that does a total wipeout though, and it does reset the clock… But it's only used for "stuck" machines that are otherwise...

    Legend not keeping time correctly

NV in "NVRAM" stands for "non-volatile", meaning it shouldn't lose stored values without power. However, it doesn't mean that the Legend has all its settings stored in NVRAM, which means that after "battery dead" event, a factory reset (duh!) is a good idea. Oh, and running battery dead is...

    Legend vs Manticore

You had me in the first half here. Inverse square law means that measured intensity decreases proportionally to distance squared. So to double the reach, you've to quadruple transmitting power… in theory, in vacuum. But when it comes to the real soil and VLF transmissions, we're not dealing with...

    Legend vs Manticore

…which will make it shine in air tests. Now imagine shining a flashlight into dense fog. You can barely see, so you crank up the brightness tenfold. Congrats, now you're totally blinded by glowing fog!… Is it possible that the FCC relaxed some regulations for VLF transmitters, especially their...

    Legend vs Manticore

Imagine sitting at the traffic light in your BMW. The light turns green, you floor it, and all of a sudden you're easily passed by a… Prius. Some BMW owners after such "humiliation" go to BMW forums and rant how much better BMW is, cuz it has bigger cupholders.

    Legend vs Manticore

Common thread in these comparisons is the fact that the Legend is typically compared to machines that cost at least $1K more. I'm lovin' it! :smoke:

    Local Kingfisher

If you want to get close and personal with these stunning birds, set up a feeding station for them. Kiddie pool filled with water, add some minnows, mount a perch (I usually clamp a tree branch to a lawn chair) right next to it and wait. Having a blind is a major plus, as otherwise you'll likely...

    What frequencies have you ran

40 KHz or M2 are the only ways to pick on irregularly shaped small gold (such as small earrings) on hunted out sites (especially tot lots and beaches). On virgin sites, on the other hand, both will go off on tiniest flakes of foil, turning your outing into a never-ending digging session.
