1/2 penny of sorts

Listener

Well-known member
I found this in a pocket spill recently.
Someone's attempt to make a tails on both sides penny. The obverse is machined down to accept another machined down tails side to be inserted.
Pretty precision work. Looked for the other half but was not found.

Interesting find! Wonder if they threw it down while the Secret Service was chasing them for destruction of currency. Lol

If finds could talk! How many times do we wish. Too bad it wasn't complete, then I could have titled the post -"Heads I win Tails U loose".

You think thats strange? A couple of years ago I found a silver quarter in an old park. It has a band engraved around it like some one had attempted to make a chain but there was no hole drilled for the chain. I even thought it might have been an overstrike. I made a picture of it and a few months ago I showed it to a friend. He confirmed that this was the coin he was working on 30 years ago when his son took it to the park on a scouting expedition and lost it. He confirmed that was it. Crazy huh?.

That is a jaw dropper and belongs in the Forum of coincedences. But there isn't one. At least your question about it is no longer a question.
