Right at the end of my morning digging, I hit the 37 Washington, otherwise, would have been a pretty dismal hunt. The quarter was 4," totally on edge. Did get a hot wheels truck with all wheels in tact and a piece of one that apparently got run over by something bigger. 7 60's and 70's Memorial cents not shown. Omega and 5" coil. HH jim tn

Nice finds Jim

The Omega and 5" DD coil are a favorite combination of mine. I like the stock elliptical 5

I don't know about the 2012 annual silver total, Monte, they have been tougher to come by thus far and definitely not in bunches. I may actually be doing better on silver jewelry. Monte, I have never swung a combination like the Omega and 5" coil for gleaning good targets out of trash.....and I am now into my 40th year of doing this having used numerous detectors and all sizes of coils. It truly amazes me at times what laser like precision it has. Elton, today it will have to be an apple for keeping the Dr. away. Mud, thanks. We both know, any silver just has the right amount of age. HH everyone. jim tn

It was 'natural' because way back when I started detecting, many detectors came standard with a smaller-size coil. It was not too unusual to have a 5" to 7" coil attached way-down-there, and with the way those BFO's and TR's worked, I quickly mastered the necessary patience to take my time, learn them, use them, and most of all .... trust them. If the detector/coil combo was a 'good match,' then all it took was patience.

I used a smaller-than-stock coil (since most stock coils were then 8" or larger) on several proven performers in the mid-to-late '90s and on to the future.

I kept a 6
