Hello i have too say every time i go out detecting my explorer xs teaches me something new today was no exception with my first coin find a 1918 mercury dime i just knew it was silver i dont know how but i did. The second coin of the day a 1889 indian head cent was totally off the wall for it was not constant and kind of broken up and when i flipped the soad it was laying sorta flat any ideas on why indian head cents sound and id so different? also found a old pin with one stone all others are missing also found a small two hole button and some rifle shells and some other neat items hope you enjoy the pics .

Nice digs buddy.
Those old injun's always have unique sounds for me. I hardly ever find an injun that reads or sounds like it should.
They have their own unique sound....and you just made a great point with your post. Thanks for the sharing.

The coin was probably on edge when you got the reading. That will give it an "IFFY" sound. HH...Jesse.
