10" DD coil.

My wife was snooping around and discovered there was a coil for the Omega that I didn't have, so she got me it for Christmas. Followed it around for about an hour and a half this morning in the snow covered woods. Tough hunting as coil kept getting piled up with snow. Non the less, sniffed out 2 Memorial and 2 wheat cents. The latter of which are soaking to try and get dates off of. Anyway, don't have enough time in with it yet to compare it with the 10" concentric or to see how it does in heavy trash. Have the feeling that it might have a tad more depth then the concentric, but haven't proven that to be fact. It does move through and around brush more easily as it doesn't get branches caught in it. I'll give it a good work out once this snow clears out of the woods. HH jim tn
 
you will find that it does much better with bottle caps than the dd coil it was my favorite coil on the beaches when i had the f70 hh
 
Jimmy, take one of those white plastic bags you get grocerys in from the Piggley Wiggley, and pull it up over the coil, and sort of tie it off to the shaft..they keep the snow from clinging to the coil, sure it would get torn up in the brush, but who cares? they are free and easy to employ for this function.

Hmmm, good idea mud, except we don't have Piggley Wiggley stores around here. Maybe Kroger bags would work? Except they are tan? :rofl: 1 1/2 hours out swinging over a three day period simply isn't enough. HH jim tn
 
11" DD, but I have found the 5
 
I've had two hunts using the 10" dd in the woods and it is much easier to move around with then the 10" concentric. Depth wise, I haven't been able to tell any difference yet between the two 10 inchers, as of yet anyway. My 9" buried dime appears to be safe with both in disc 1 and 75 sen. To many emi sources for me to get to 99 sen in my back yard. HH jim tn
 
Most of today's finds with the 10" DD came this afternoon from a school yard. Did have it in the woods this morning and yesterday, but still to much snow on the brush for ease of swinging. Although I did hit 2 tokens and a key and 2 Mem. cents. This afternoon I got the 925 marked silver ring, the 2 scout slides and the clad and the other cents. It does seem to have good target separation. Anyway, wanted to dig a few targets with it and try and get used to pin pointing with it off the front. HH jim tn

I found the same thing with the F70 I used to have. The 10" concentric was deeper and ran much smoother than the 11"dd. On the Omega the 10"dd is even better than the concentric in my mild ground for some reason. Goes deeper too.

The plastic bag idea is a great one. Might help with keeping the 11" DD from hanging up in brush so much.
 
I've gotten a few more hunts in with the 10" DD and am really starting to like it. It hit 2 coin spills that I some how missed with the 10" concentric back in Dec. There was a full ring tab in one of the spills and a quarter sized wad of foil in the other. ??? Dug two coin targets with the 10" DD 6" and 7" respectively and still faint audio left on the 7 incher. HH jim tn
