Met up with Golddigger at the local ghetto park last Sunday to try out a couple new Kellyco coils. He started with the 5"one I started with the 10x14 elliptical. We compared signals between the two and I was impressed at the depth capability of his small coil... I could tell he was going to have a good day, and he did (see post below). I had to leave early and he waited til I was gone to start digging silver
I had a chance yesterday to go out to my favorite pounded to death park and put the elliptical to the test. I couldn't hunt most places because the wonderful city of St. Louis Parks Dept. was WAY behind in mowing the knee-high grass everywhere, but the one place that I could try the coil in was very trashy and had bad ground with mixed fill and old dirt. I had taken many seated and barber coins out of this spot years ago during construction and thought there was still some goodies left in the mixed up dirt.. I only had an hour to hunt and I managed a couple Indian cents and a couple Wheaties, I need more time and hunts to form an opinion on the coil. I did notice that it felt pretty heavy, but it balanced well on the detector and felt good swinging it. It reacted to targets much like the stock coil. I did notice that I needed to pay more attention to pinpointing with it as the target center seemed to vary front or rearward of the coil's center. It also seemed to like iron, but the ground is still soaking wet from a ton of rain the past week.
I still have some good spots to put it through a serious test, when the grass gets cut. Places where there is 8 - 10 inch+ deep silver coins under a lot of trash - a good test for this coil.. I'll update you when I do. Take care and HH, Mike.
