10 x 14 Mono experience?

GoldChaser

There doesn't seem to be many references to the 10 x 14" Mono coil. My research seems to report that a Mono coil will get deeper responses than a DD coil. So why isn't everyone using the 10x14" Garrett Mono coil on the Infinium? Does anyone have experience with this coil in areas with high ground mineralization and hot rocks?
Thank you!!!

Hi Goldchaser,

I got a bit more depth with the 14" mono and was better able to pinpoint better in normal mineralized ground. Bonus points for being lighter. In ground with severe hot rocks it is not as smooth as the DD however. I suspect more people do not use them simply because the coil is so close to the existing stock coil. When people get an extra coil they tend to look for something radically different, like an 8" mono or 3x7 DD.
