10' x 5' DD 18.75kHz Elliptical

iT IS.

Sorry, the 5x10 elliptical is the only X-terra coil that is NOT waterproof. It is water resistant so should be ok in wet grass but it is not submersible.

Seems to be a lot of confusion on this. Maybe someone from Minelab monitors this forum and can weigh in? I thought that the only one that was waterproof and could be submerged for shallow beach hunting was the 6" DD 18.75 Khz coil and that all the others for the Xterra's were only water resistant for use in wet grass?

Check the coil selection table posted by BarnicleBill in the FAQFAQ. All X-terra coils are waterproof except the 5x10.

Is that coil waterproof.

Minelab says all coils they manufacture are waterproofed, they don't know how that rumour originally started on the 10x5. They said it would be of very little use not to waterproof every coil they make.

Thia coil is water resistant as was stated before, besides because of it being solid and buoyant it would be very difficult to use under water.

Thought it was...

This has been discussed before in detail and from memory, Minelab was contacted by one or 2 of the posters to confirm where or not it is waterproof. Some have made their coils waterproof way various methods, but if you do put it in water, you will be putting your coil at risk.
