hello, i got a almost new 10x12 SEF with an SE i got. im a coin shooter and was wondering if its worth taking to a "hunted out" spot?? i have went over this property for almost 4 years prolly 50 times and it was a virgin site when i started detected it and it was a coin shooters dream site. at the beginning of this year i got a explorer II and found some iffy wheaties, a war nickel and relics on this property with stock coil. theres lots of deep coins on this property that i've found and tons of iron. will the SEF sniff them out in the iron patches?? or should i stick to the 1050 stock explorer coil and listen a little closer??

Thanks, Weston

Weston, all your old hunting spots become your new hunting spots with that coil! Take it to everyone of them!

Pretty clear what my opinion is.

You already have the coil...so why not use it and find out for yourself:)

I like the SEF much better than the standard.... it just sperates better. Because of the speration you should find some of the coins you have missed. However, with added depth you start getting more deeper iron in those kind of spots. You may have to watch your sensitivity and not crank it WAY up. Ive found 24 manual to work very well in most of the areas i hunt.

Youbetcha! I dug lots more oldies out of my favorite spots, using the SEF, that I had missed with the stock coil. In good soil conditions I can run manual sens at 30, gain 10, seems like I got an extra 1-2" depth over stock, which produced many more coins, dime-sized, at 9" average.

Does this coil work with the Explorer XS?
yes, all coils for the explorer series and the Etrac are interchangeable. any coil that fits the Etrac or SE Pro will fit the XS and same way the opposite way around. hope thats not too confusing.

thanks, weston

Weston, I just sent you a personal message. I'll just say here that I've been hunting exclusively with the 10x12. I believe it does have an edge over the Pro coil. My detector is noticibly more stable when hunting with high levels of sensitivity. I get more depth and I find coins from sites I have previously hammered with the Pro coil.

I bought the 5" coil and the holes in the coil would not fit the XS shaft. I had to drill it larger for the bolt to go through. I don't know what size hole is in the 10 x 12 but if you have the newer shaft that fits the SE or ET you will probably have to drill it larger.
