With so much iron junk everywhere I hunt I gave some thought to setting the SE up a little differently to try and get away from all of that pesky chirping. This morning I went to my dad's place where I would have sworn on a stack of bibles there were no more silver coins in the yard. I set the iron mask to 30, sensitivity to manual 26 and, most importantly, I switched to ferrous sounds. I figured any high pitches amongst the low iron tones could not be coming from the iron nails and junk and might be coins that would otherwise be masked.
The first target was a memorial penny @ 6" surrounded by rusty nails. The second was a 45 merc @ 7" also amongst nails. I'm going back to the farm where I found the 1700's relics with a fresh battery pack and a new lease on hope. This machine is incredibly adaptable and I barely even know what I'm doing.
