I had the day off today and got to hunt for the second time this year.

wish icould find some silver . i hunt 2 or 3 days a week around this niehberhood. lots of old farm houses here but all i find is wheat pennies.one silver. i guess these farmers all had pennies only ..

Must have hit a honey hole as an old busy yard or perhaps the edge of a busy former amusement park now overgrown..My best day was 8 with dimes, quarters, and a half..from Barber to Silver Roosie...Yep side of an amusement park now woods that all the other fellows walked right by..In any case great day...do go back as you probably missed a few...Any copper coins in this group such as wheats etc..

heckuva haul! you beat me by 10 silvers... i'd love to have a day like that. i think my personal best is 6 in one day. congrats & hh.

Here are the wheaties I found. You were some what close on the area I hunted. This plce is a boy scout comp that has tall grass 9 months out of the year. You have to hunt it after the heavy snow fall of the year so the grass is compacted. Or use the plastic snow fencing laying it on the groud and walk and swing over it.

Metal,
There is a boy scout camp in my area that goes back to the early 20's. How does one get permission to hunt these campsights??

Go where no other coil has gone is the name of the game..Remember what was the center of attracton may be woods or in your case tall grass..I really feel Boy scout camps may be your best area..usually rather large and if you can get permission and find a hot spot( BINGO ) Met one fellow at a planted hunt and he found such a place and pulled over 200 silver coins in a summer of hunting...

I'm not 100% sure. The camp that I hunt is part of the Cook County forest preserve, so it is open to me considering it has not been used for 30 year's. Common sense tell's me to get involved with the boy scout program. Get your feet in the door so to speek.

Usually won't let you hunt while scouts are there. But usually have a caretaker and he is the one to see. Some abandoned sites have an owner so find the owner. Sort of differs in many areas and most are hard hunted, but usually so big( find a hot spot) and you will get some nice silvers..And do be prepared to hunt in the woods in many cases as areas especially old ones do grow up..

your invited if you ever come out this way to hunt this camp. If you know your machine I think you willl
