I just ordered one. Anyone use one? what do you think of it?

Many comments about the coil in this forum. Just do a search.

The biggest advantage the 11x13 coil has over the others is coverage.

It offers a minimal increase in depth but that is the nature of DD coils . . larger does not always give you more depth as the larger coils sees more ground and may force you to run at a lower sensitivity / TX Power setting so one gain is offset by the other loss.

The one comment from many users of the 11x13 coil is that the coil is nose-heavy due to the mounting point for the shaft. There was a supplier in the UK for a block that would move the mounting point forward and balance the coil but he has retired and is no longer making them. Some people have attached the coil backwards which helps to some degree in rebalancing the coil.

If you post what type of hunting you are planning on using it for, it would help on recommendations . . . . open fields or beaches, coverage is king but in trashy areas, separation is more important and the larger the coil the more likely you are to get target masking.

There is a center balancer on E #$% but it is pricey and from the Ukraine.which can mean a longer shipping wait.

Terribly uncomfortable to use even with the balance block , it honestly feels like your swinging with a 2lb bag of sugar attached to the shaft .

The coverage over the 9’ coil is the same because you can move and swing faster with a smaller lighter well balanced coil .

You will get 3 full arc swings with a 9’ coil, to each 1 full swing with the 13’ and your arm won’t ache after 30 minutes

I hunt mostly parks and old ball fields. I have a tornado coil on my minelab and they do well.

My wife has the same complaint!

I almost got the 11”x13” but settled on the 9” and 11”
The 11” is used when I expect to be covering a large area, the
9” just seems a bit small for those. If I had the 13” I would certainly
use a shoulder sling. They do work well

Just got the coil in the mail the other day and took it to an area that has been pounded for years. Found a 1941 merc (4 inches), and a 1898 Barber dime (7 inches). The coil is heaver than the 9 inch for sure but nowhere near as bad as the minelabs. The barber had half of a rusty, rotten crown cap about an inch away but the dime sounded smooth and clean.

I hunt the beach exclusively and for me the larger coil is not king but only in size. I use the HF Elliptical Coil for its amazing ability to get in between the trash targets and the good targets. It’s so lightweight and powerful I’ll never need a larger coil.
