12/36 + 12/22 + 01/46 = a great day detecting :hot:

The 12/36 had me thinking Indian before it ever came out of the ground. The 12/22 had me fooled a little bit. It was the same size as the IH cent. But the low conductivity had me wondering what it might be???? I wasn't sure what it was until I got home and rinsed it off. It ain't much to look at. But it's my first Flying Eagle! I knew the 01/46 was big and the edge was silver. But instead of wiping it off, I left the clump of dirt on it, wrapped it in a paper towel and stuck it in my pocket. When I got home and washed it off, it turns out to be a key date 1883 CC Morgan silver dollar!!! Unfortunately, years of farming has put a few scars on both sides of the Morgan. But all in all, her details are sharp, I got my first Flying Eagle and added another IH cent. What a great hobby!!! HH Randy

WTG bud......................Hawkeye Jim.

Wow!! sweet finds.

Yep, brushed on a little olive oil and it's a Flying Eagle. In fact, when I look at it with decent magnification, it appears to be the 8 over 7 variety. Better "date" than I expected. HH Randy

Fantastic find.
Those are hard to find.

W O W, Randy! What a day you had!!!! Congratulations man!!! Thanks for the pictures and the story!

Wow awesome day. Never found a flying eagle, its on my list.. :) congrats on the Morgan too!

you dug last week. Very nice! It is in much better shape than mine. But after 39 years of detecting, I won't complain. Since I found my Flying Eagle within a week of yours, why don't you go find a gold coin or that 20-cent silver, so I can find them too? HH Randy
