Just some input on the Fisher 1270 since there aren't a-lot of 1270 entries. While hunting a grassy area by a beach I decided to experiment with the iron disc and cranked it all the way up. This is what I found whithin the first three steps. Also this machine seems to hit on the deeper coins in our very mineralized soil when in iron disc. When finding a good sounding target I would flip the trigger fwd to norm disc to validate my dig and found that this iron laden soil was masking many coins actually making pennys sound like foil at norm disc level 5. I now do all my coin shooting in iron disc and can tell by the sound whether or not to dig and I won't miss rings. I do dig more pull tabs but you got to if you want the jewlery. Here in Hawaii the ground is laden with hot rocks and the soil eats the pennys before they get too deep, it's awful but I am finding stuff with the 1270. Try it you'll like it <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">

Hi Buck, No you don't see a lot of posts on the 1270. It's kind-of an unspoken secret as a coin-shooter. Like you I found it has greater depth in all metal and have also been pulling out deeper coins. I would get a faint coin signal in disc mode,
toggle to all metal, and it would blast me. Now I do it in reverse. I'm wanting a good ID machine but will never part with my 1270.Good luck with it and HH Pat
