13 silver weekend, One of my best days EVER!

Saturday and sunday were two great days of detecting with my buddies.

Saturday I met up with DiggerDan for some farm house door knocking. House number one gave up a merc on the first hole I dug, nothing else but clad thereafter. House 2 gave up a few wheats and clad. House 3 gave up the 1888 indian and one more merc. Not a bad day, but Dan had enough and dropped me off at my car, which is right beside an old ballfield I have hit pretty hard this year. I told Dan "I have a feeling there is something for me in that ballfield today, I am gonna detect it for 1/2 an hour before I call it quits"

So I crank up the manual sensitivity to 29 and off I go, I get an absolute screaming 03-47 and I am thinking this is a half dollar! I cut a nice deep plug, flip it back and there laid a walking liberty half in the bottom of the hole! made the day a LOT better.

Sunday Mr. Stuff came up to do some door knocking and it was a GREAT 10 silver day!

house 1: 1890 seated dime, 1916 buffalo, 2 wheats
house 2: 3 silver rosies, 4 mercs, sterling ring, 3 wheats
house 3: 2 indians, SLQ quarter

10 silver and ONLY 5 wheats! I was SO CLOSE to a dime grand slam, couldn't find a barber to save my life!!!!! Getting the seated was the HARD part, uughhhhh I wanted that grand slam so bad! I had to settle for a trifecta!

Mr. Stuff dug 8 or 9 silver himself, he got 7 silver in the same yard I did, that was a 14 silver yard!

Hey guys Terry uses the Hoover pattern...you know the one when you push the button and it sucks up all the silver in the vicinity  Congrats Terry on the great weekend, it is one to cherish.

I start with the minelab coin program open it up a LOT around the nickel area. I open top right for big silver and open it up a bit around silver area as well, thats it, nothing special.

It is all location, nothing to do with my pattern I use.

Terry, what are you going to do when you finally find every last piece of silver in your state of Ohio? Move on to Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kentucky or West Virginia? lol!

Nice pile of silver you've got there. :clapping:

Hey Terry, congrats on a great weekend! What does that bring your silver total up to now? hey Crispy Critter, I hope Terry goes south or west not north into michigan, There will not be any coins left up here for me:laugh:

That was an awesome weekend and I look forward to mine. Thanks for post and CONGRATS :clapping: on beautiful finds.

JUST STUNNING

One day you might inspire me to go door knocking

Especially when you get these type of results
one day???... what more does it take? have you seen bell-two's finds lately? I got him door knocking, and look at the stuff I'm diging in private yards...why would you NOT want to door knock? You have NOTHING to loose!

As long as he stays out of Florida, all is good.

Naw....I'm just kidding. Come on down Terry and show me how it's done. :detecting:

I live in a suburb that is like a little city
Houses are close and properties are limited
However, I do go out to the less populated areas looking for sites with potential

I am cultivating contacts and talking about detecting and have been offered several properties for detecting
So far these properties have not had good results but I have one that has great potential but must
be available during decent weather and between hunting seasons because the bullets have come through
into the fields where we need to detect

But the main reason I don't knock on doors is that I'm shy:blush: and hate rejection:blink:
And that the people who live in the historic Village near us tend to be snobs

But hopefully when Spring comes I will take your advise and have you and Bell Two inspire me :wiggle:

I find people are more receptive if you are away from a town area, look for old farm houses do not judge them by their condition some of our best finds have come from less well maintained places.

You can never tell, we have hunted some places that seem to scream out "old great finds" and have not found anything good.

Do not worry about rejection if they say no..just smile and thank them for listening to you...then go on there is another place just ahead waiting for you. I found most people have been nice and many seem fascinated by what we do. Again I find farther out in the country is better. Remember a no is just a no, it is not a value judgement on you and realistically you will probably never see them again.

But hopefully when Spring comes I will take your advise and have you and Bell Two inspire me

Well thank you Terry is my inspiration so all credit should go to him. But don't wait until Spring there is no time like the present!
