14 K & stuff

steve in so la

Hit a couple places this morning - sweated my brains out but dug 136 coins, some junk jewelry , 13 nickels, and a 14 K necklace.

Here's the necklace - 24 inches long but still in question. It is stamped "14 K Italy" but is all darkly stained. I thought I had dug a copper one. I'll take it to the jeweler tomorrow to check it out. I have dug several fake 14 K items over the years but never one that had "Italy" also on it. Have any of you ever found a fake piece with "Italy" on it ? The big Peso coin sure gave me a start when I popped it up - thought I had a half dollar or such. Unfortunately, it's of no value .
I'll report what the jeweler says tomorrow. Did I mention I got 13 nickels Steve in so az

Paul - I put it in bleach like someone said and it did not turn black or bubble. So theres some hope yet :) Steve

Good luck on the necklace and good going on the nickels and all the coins! :)

are just as important as the gold to me for if I were not digging them I would be missing a lot of gold. Dug 673 this year so far, Steve

I've dug a lot of them over the years, as a lot of people wouldn't dig nickels and left them for me to dig! :) When I used my White's XLT Spectrum I could always tell (almost) if I had a nickel.....the nickels and quarters were easy to tell the difference by sound. Dimes and pennies were questionable at times.....and of course....There was the junk metal, which fools a person!

God Bless!
