15" Teknetics T2 coil?

NC11th

New member
Hey Guys,

I'm about to order a T2 SE and am looking forward to unleashing "The Process" here in the Old North State. I've seen a few ads for the Teknetics 15" DD coil but a search of the forums didn't turn up any hits. I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has used that coil for relic hunting.

Thanks!

Jim

Hmm, I've tried searching for it but was getting zero results. I'll try a few more permutations of "15"

Thanks,
Jim

Yep, I've seen the ads (looks like a sweet coil) but was hoping for some impressions by someone who has actually used one.

Thanks,
Jim

It is heavy and extremely unbalanced. The T2 was for sure designed with the 11" stock coil in mind for making it balanced. The 15" is a battleship and throws that balance out of whack. You'll need an arm strap and even then you'll find yourself having to rest the coil on the ground after just a couple hrs.

Depth wise...on coin size objects there is not much of a gain from the 11" DD.....at least I didn't see any. What I did see, was better IDs on deeper targets that the 11" DD was skewing over the ID spectrum. Where the depth difference really comes into play was with larger than coin sized objects. Once you started getting into things the size of a Civil War belt plate and such, the signal strength and depth increased quite a bit over the 11" DD.

The better option is the SEF 12X15 DD coil that Kellyco sells. That coil weighs less than the 15" DD and you get the ground coverage and depth gain too. It actually showed a little better depth improvement on the coin size objects and was right there with the 15" DD on the larger belt plate size objects as well. They also have a new coil called the Ultimate that is 13" and supposed to be really light weight but I don't know of anybody getting one for the T2 as of yet. Mostly just hearing people getting them for the eTrac.

Now that is the kind of feedback I was hoping to get. Thank you (again), Daniel. You've helped me a lot this week.
