1690 copper

The Fog

New member
Had a great hunt last weekend, I found my earliest coin to date, a 1699 half penny. The condition is poor as it should be for being in the ground that long, but there was enough there to get an ID. Unfortunately just handling the coin causes pieces of the patina to fall off so cleaning is out of the question. I also found an 1891-O Seated Liberty Quarter, the back of it is scratched, not from me but probably farm equipment. I also found an incredible Civil War button, it's in unbelievable shape. I haven't cleaned it yet. It's circa 1840 and is an infantry button from the Duke of Wellington's 33rd regiment. I also posted a pic of what the halfpenny would look like if it was never in the ground.

Fog, you know those are the kind of finds I find almost daily. Of course then my wife wakes me up.:clapping: Smashing finds......Z
