17.5" Penetrator Coil

I mainly detect in fields in England so I bought a Detech 17.5" Penetrator Coil. I can't seem to get it to work with my Quattro. I tested the new coil against the stock 10.5 inch coil in a field. The stock coil works perfectly with a sensitivity setting of 17 but the new coil falses all the time. I had to set the sensitivity down to 10 which gave no depth at all, and it still gave false readings. The coil is advertised for the Quattro and came with a Quattro lower stem.
Am I missing some thing, any thoughts would be much appreciated.

We have seen a few of these coils being bad, so I would contact the dealer you got it from and see if he can send you a different one. I just wish they would check them out better before they send them out to the customers.
Here in the USA they are called the Excellerator coil made by Detech.

Big coils are generally very unstable copmpared to the stock coil which is excellent,I had a WOT 15 inch on my Quattro but sold it again after a few weeks,it gave no real extra depth and was akward to use.The only real way to get extra depth is to use a PI machinde like a GP3500 but it has no discrim so prepare to dig lots of deep iorn!

Thanks for the info guys, I got onto the retailer and swapped it for a 14 inch. I went out last Saturday and found a 1630 Charles 1st half groat within 2 hours. Though I must admit it is taking a bit of getting used to.
