178_ Spanish 2 Reales

Some time ago, I happened upon a spot that had a lot of Indian artifacts on the surface of the ground. I also could see where a building had been, although all that was left of it was a very few bits of rusty square nails. I returned there yesterday evening with my GTI 2500. I found on top of the ground a broken arrow point, and the porcelin arm of a child's baby doll. The only coin I found was a very worn Spanish 2 Reales, date 178_. I just can't make out that last digit. I wonder about that coin. Just how did it get there? Did a frontier trapper lose it? Did an indian trade for it, and lose it in his camp? Was the structure that was there a trading post when this nation was but a frontier? That's the gravy for the goose! That's what thrills me most about this hobby! It provides for me a distraction from the hustle and bustle of everyday stresses, and takes me back in time.
