1831 LC with AST.STEEL stamped into it

I found this yesterday at a old coin spot I hunt. It has AST.STEEL punched into it. I also found a small copper & some buttons. I found the CW bullets the other day also. Thanks for looking. HH

Companies would stamp their name and sometimes their address on coins as a way of branding themselves.

Below is my only counterstamped coin. Most likely some merchant in the West Indies from what I'm told.

It came out in good shape. I cleaned it with water & a tooth brush & then rubed some Hoppes gun oil.
 
Was that Colgate Whitening or Arm & Hammer with baking soda? :lol: Just kidding. Nice find job, nice job.
