1840 House Site

Got permission on Sunday to hunt around an old house in a small town built in 1840.
Its a very hard site to hunt. Lots of iron and signals that sound good until you start digging them.
I've hunted there each afternoon since Sunday and pulled out an 1864 Two Cent Piece and five
Indian Heads. (1865, 87, 88, 89, 90) Four of the Indians, 1887-90, were in the same hole together.
No silver yet though. I brought along a silver half, quarter and dime to use as test coins at the site.
Had trouble getting good signals on them with the Explorer II stock coil and the X-1 probe.
Target ID is very unreliable at this site, so I have to hunt by sound and dig anything with a repeatable
signal. Tomorrow I'll try the X-5 coil and see if that will make a difference. Hope it doesn't rain.

Hunt while you can! Mark

Nice job with the persistence. I hope the 5" coil works for you. It would be nice to see some silver from the same era. - good luck

Deep iron can sound so sweet at times....
Hope the 5" coil works better for you so you
can find some of that older silver thats hiding.
