1853 Seated Half Dime

Mark in S.E. IA

New member
Sat I started off MDing a early 1900's house yard and I think somebody has MDed it in the past. I only found a 50d Rosie, 2 wheat's and the Military button. Then I went out of town and Mded a 1RSH and all of them in my area has been hit in the past but you never find it all. In that field 2 Buff's, 17, 35d, 1907 IH, 6 wheat's and a button. When I was driving home I got thinking if their ever was a farm in that field because it was a pretty big field. I checked to old area photo's and sure enough their was a farm in that field at one time.

Sunday/today, I MDed the farm site that was in the same field as the 1RSH. From the photo's I could measure that the old house sat about 30 yards back off the road so I stated my first pass going alone where the driveway use to be going back to the house. I get about in line to where the house use to be and I get a good high tone and the numbers were jumping some. I had to dig down a good 6" to 8" deep to find the 1853 Seated Half Dime. I think it was lost in the driveway because it is chewed up some. After that I found 2 IH's, 1865, 1890, 1 wheat and the toe or heel plates and 2 clad pennies, lol. The side yard was about 30 yards by 30 yards that went from the house out to the road and I didn't find anything in that area. all the coins come from a area about 6 yards wide between the house and driveway.

Thanks for lookin

Really nice finds. :clapping: You hit the jackpot. :clapping:

Nice finds! I still haven't found a seated yet.

Nice finds Mark!

I'm looking forward to hunting next door where there was a farm house in the 1850s, before they straightened the road. They just took the beans off that field yesterday.
