1882 Indian Head Cent.

Well, I finally had some time to go detect our local park today. This park has been hunted since the 1960's very hard. To find one old coin or silver coin today takes time and considerable effort. I found over a dollar in clad, then just before I was ready to head back to my SUV, I finally got the signal I was waiting for. 07-25 six inches deep. Out popped this 1882 Indian Head Cent in about good condition. Well, that made my day. All I wanted to do was find a old coin, silver or otherwise. Mission occomplished. I know it is not much, but it is what it is. After 39 plus years of detecting I still love to find old Indian Head Cents. Happy Thanksgiving everyone! HH...Jesse.

Hey Jesse...nice Coin and I know what you mean about that park....it does take some time to find old coins in over hunted parks cause I hunt one like your describing.....But I had better luck by looking in areas one would least hunt or even think of swinging the coil....try around the outskirts of the park....the edges of the boundrys of the old park....etc......I bet you find some more that way....keep us posted....and thanks for sharing the Indian coin......PS and don't just use one paticular setup...you got to mix it up a little and try some extreme settings...If your anything like me you already know this.....I always am trying new settings and preferences.....with good results....and using diff. coil sizes is another way to get more oldies!.....

Any time I break the 1800's barrier with Coins, I get very excited and gives me hopes on finding Seated Coins. It maybe only 1 Indian Head but that is an Indian Head that was saved from getting any worse from Ground Conditions and being lost forever. And Indian Heads are a great looking Coin no matter what shape they are in. Continued Success, Good Luck and HH.:detecting:

I like the indian head Jesse.
