1894 Barber Quarter

Picked this up 2" over from where I found 1917 Merc yesterday. I was using the XT 705 W/9" stock coil. It was 2 inches deeper than dime at 3". Will be back tomorrow when I have more time. Looks like I owe a lunch to my inital contact for this site. Using on 3 tones. Nice when backup machine gets the job done!

Nice finds. I am still waiting for my first barber.

Sure looks like you have a good location. 1917 Merc and 1894 today..not bad at all. You might sometime consider a 3kHz coil for that bad boy and find some deeper silver. HH TomB

Excellent! Congrats! Just got my first barber a few months back. Mine was a little newer, a 1911. Always feels good to see an 18xx date.

Just think, Grover Cleveland was president that year and Normal Rockwell was born in February of 1894. When I find an older coins like that I like to do some Google searches to find out what was happening during that year.

Your comment about lunch just reminded me that I promised my sister and brother in law a steak dinner after finding an 1834 half dime in their yard. After finding the half dime I spend two more days in their yard and never found anything older than a merc. But hey... a promise is a promise.

Good luck tomorrow. I have to believe that there are a few more goodies at that site.

Always great to find silver. And finding any of the silver "ladies" is a special treat. Congrats! HH Randy
