1944 D war nickel

I tried to keep the gold run going for a third day with no luck on that. but I did find a 1944D nickel. My beach isn’t conducive to old coins, mostly just clad and occasional jewelry. I popped this nickel out with a 58 target ID with the D2 on beach P. This coin is officially the oldest I’ve found with a metal detector.
Any high-fives are greatly appreciated!

I’m going to clean up and grind an edge on the axe head and get a handle for it. So I literally have an ax to grind.

Silver is silver!!! Nice find.
Also here is a chart I screen shot some time back, if you can match the shape then you can Google that and some times get an approximate date.

Thanks Odan, I’m not sure yet on its rarity, but I do know that contains 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese.
