1944 Libery Half

My youngest son likes to go detecting with me on rare occasions...but that's not the story here. We went to the grocery store and, as is his habit, he stopped by the Coin Star to see what's in the discharge bin. He comes bopping over to me and my older son and announces that he found a half dollar. I congratulated him and asked to see it. My eyes practically popped out of my head when I saw it, exclaiming "Holy smokes that's a liberty half!" He didn't understand my enthusiasm so I had to explain that it was old and made of silver. He was grinning from ear to ear when he learned it was worth a whole lot more and 50 cents.

Congrats to your youngest! That's a sweet find.
My best is only a 41 wheatie but I just started. If I find a silver half I'll poop my pants for sure. Congrats again

Nice find on his part - I guess some people assume that if the Coinstar rejects it, it must be worthless. Or maybe they don't know there's a reject bin. Congrats.

Congrads on your silver 1/2 piece , I had my Nephews visit this summer, took them out medal detecting for the first time in their lives and the fourteen year old found an 1941 silver 1/2 piece.
