Heres my first 12 hours or so of metal detecting with my new safari i got over thanksgiving. There is a heart locket, 2 spoons, 4 buttons (ones in a case lower right), wheaties (1915,1919,1931, 1958-d), a watch part, a ladies compact made by Tre-jur in NYC around 1925, a skeleton key, and a silver quarter. The first thing is that all these were found in so called "Hunted Out" places... and UK is better than IU. Next, if you look at the skeleton key, you notice there arent any teeth. They were not broken off, there just arent any. Why is this? Ive seen this on clock keys but this is much too big for a clock. Lastly, the Standing Liberty gave me a signal from 30, 32, 33, 34, 36, 38, and yes 40!!!! The 40 was very slight but it did appear. After digging, a 1940 clad nickel popped out. I realized this would not have registered that high so I rechecked the hole. All i could hear was 38 and i knew it was a coin. When it popped out, i thought it was a washington. After seeing the wings on the back, I went crazy!! It was my first silver quarter, and ive been doin this awhile. Some reason i have just never found one. I look forward to posting more in the future.
