It's a nice feeling. This was sideways / tipped underneath a small rock. I probably have 10 hours total on my Quattro. I am getting the feel of the tones it puts out when there is an actual coin. I use the stock 10 1/2" coil. I have tried an 8" smaller coil with extremely poor results. Once you find some silver[attachment 31927 MVC-012F.JPG];), you can't wait to find more. Regards, Jim W.
 
Great way to start. Silver is addictive. Once you get a shot you want more. I do like the small coil. I have had success with it but I really don't use it much. Want the extra coverage and depth.

Thanks Guys! This Quarter is a lot nicer than the lousy picture I took. I haven't cleaned it. This one is a keeper. I need to pass this story on. My brother-in-law found a beautiful 1906 Barber half dollar without even using a metal detector. I would estimate it conservatively to be a AU-50. Apparently someone detected it, & unknowingly left it in a pile of dirt next to their freshly dug hole. I would be willing to bet the person dug it out & unfortunately for them, the coin was covered up in the last shovelful of dirt they took out. The next rain unveiled it to my lucky brother-in-law. It goes to show you need a quality pinpointer so you do not lose any coins. I can't count the number of coins I would have lost if I didn't have the patience to continually check the signals, & do some sweeps. Another thing is getting away from strictly looking around old foundations, & around some type of building. The coin my brother-in-law found was located on the side of an access road. Whoever was detecting, had the foresight to get away from the pounded out / heavily hit areas, but didn't have the foresight to re-check their signals. Best of Luck in your Adventures! Jim W.
 
Nice quarter you got. I'm still looking for one, but I know th Quatro can find it. Kind of testing this thing out here to see if I can still send a message. I havn't been here for quite a while. "Beach guy" Marc Trainor.
