1st Time Out In Nearly Two Weeks

Hello Fellow Seekers!

Today was the day! After nearly two weeks of being dizzy & nauseated, today was my first day out. I don't feel 100% but do feel reasonably well, so I thought I'd do a littel metal detecting at one of our local county parks. This was my first time using my new Safari and I can see the learning curve is more than a few hours in the park. Being use to using the X-Terra 70 and digging less than 6", I didn't antisipate that much of a difference. Boy! was I ever surprised! My first two coins were well over 8" and the two match box cars were between 10" and 12" deep. Even junk targets such as pull tabs were consistently in the 6" range. I can readily see I'll have to purchase an 8" DD coil for this girl. I was amazed at how sensitive this detector is to small targets. Even split shot sinkers detect- ed at 10"! I found one itty-bitty screw, with a lot of effort, at nearly 8" deep. If any of you plan on purchasing a Safari or a Explorer, plan on digging more than you've ever dug before. Ya'll have a nice day now...yah hear...

out area. My late friend Bob and I hunted an old hunted out carnival ground in Ohio one time. Every piece we found was about 8 inches or more deep. It was in the heat of the summer and hard dry digging.

not sure why you need another coil It has the same coil as the etrac, and I am able to detect super trashy places with it. The DD design is excellent at separating goodies from trash

Don't know about a back-hoe, Mike, but so far I've dug deeper than I have with any previous metal detector I've ever owned. To be sure, I have found things, at greater depth, than dug with my X-Terra 70 and that's a tough nut to crack because the X-70 is a very good detector reaching very good depth. My experience thus far, with the Safari, is interesting to say the least. I'm use to the X-70 locking onto a quarter size target with a solid 42 high tone but the Safari, like your Explorer, emits sounds I'm not use to and very different. The learning curve continues...
