So, I managed to win an eBay auction for a very lightly used 15X18 SEF coil. Between the winning bid, a discount coupon, rewards points, and ebay gift cards I ended up only being out of pocket around $125 for it. I also just had my Explorer SE serviced at Minelab, so this past weekend was the first time out since the repair which involved swapping out the processor board among other things. In short, I love this coil. I went out for over 8 hours last Friday at two different sites and my arm is still attached to my body! I was very impressed with the depth I was getting, the separation, and its ability to still find the smaller targets. At very nice coil!
The first site I went to with a friend was an older park which led to my first silver of the year. All told in 4 hours of detecting at that park I had 4 silvers and a small tribe of IH's. Very cool location.
The following Sunday I hit some new farm fields near a site I often frequent. The 5+ feet of snow in January had pressed down the high grass to a manageable level. I had always wanted to hit this field. I'm glad I did as I was rewarded with some colonial, and 1800's era relics, including an Eagle cuff button with a bit of the gold gilt left on it. I think it is an "I" button, anyone see it?
Lastly, some misc finds from other areas I hit recently, including what I think is a monstrous 3 ringer. Bigger than any I've ever seen. At first I just thought it was led slag, but for some reason I ended up cleaning it. Then I noticed the conical outline, and the 3 rings on the edges. also, the bottom looks like it was slightly concave. It looks like someone hit it with a hammer, however this thing is MASSIVE!. Anyone have an idea if it is indeed a bullet, if so, what type?
I will post more pics in a second post...
Thanks for looking,
Jai
