2 beautiful Eagles!:fisher:

I guess if a guy is only going to dig 2 coins on a hunt, for a silver hunter, the 2 I got are pretty good ones to get. I was trying to decide this morning while driving to the woodlands where on it I wanted to hunt. I remembered there was one end of a plot of woods I had only made a couple of token passes through usually ending up there near the end of a hunt. Ultimately, walked a road directly to the area and began hunting the end strip. The 1880 Morgan dollar came first. 6" deep and pretty much totally on edge. Nice 92-94 reading. It was to big for my water bottle, so tore off a piece of my dew rag and wrapped it up in it. About ten yards away got a nice 89-90 reading. Pushed my Predator Little Eagle shovel into the soft ground and immediately hit roots. Got off to the side of the target several inches and began chopping the cluster of small roots. Finally got enough busted up where I could bend and break them and then checked the hole with the Pro pin pointer. Got a good vibration smack in the center of the hole. Started scraping dirt away by hand and resting on a big root about 5" deep I spotted the outline of a big smokey disc. She was pretty stained from resting on and being covered by roots, but still a nice pretty 1917s Standing Liberty half dollar. She makes my 5th silver half dollar for this month. Got a 1950 Canada half a few days ago out of a small park with my Omega. As mentioned, those were the only coins I dug his morning, but did manage a few other targets. Lighters, dog tags and keys. F 75 LTD with the 11 DD coil. The boost mode might have been the difference for getting these 2 coins, as was hunting over a 4-6" bed of dry and wet leaves. HH jim tn

What a great hunt! :clapping: Two fantastic coins! Have you found many of those silver dollars before? If I had the propensity to jump around like an idiot on a find, which I dont, it would be for something like that! You sure are having an awesome year so far!:yikes:

Mud, that is my 2nd Morgan along with 1 Peace dollar, in near 41 years of detecting. HH jim tn

You know Jim..been thinkin...If those two coins were lost at the same time, something must have went down there in that spot...like a fight or something, that area sure has a GREAT possibility for your gold coin wouldn't you think?

Mud,
This guy Jim, is a detecting animal! Shoot he could buy the gold coin with all his darn silver and leave some for the rest of us, weekend hunters!!
Only kidding, Jim is a one great guy, he comes across in person just like his postings. He is a very valued member of our club and shares his tips and experiences with all.
I hope to be buddy hunting with him when he does find the elusive "Gold Coin"!

Very nice! Silver Dollars are rare finds indeed. I have only found one in the last 30 years. Value wise the Walking Liberty is "almost" worth as much as the Morgan, but its not always about value. The thrill of the find is what it's about and you can't hardly beat finding a silver dollar! Nicely done!

You are the Man around your area for "SURE"...........

PS..You gotta Light ......

Elton, a variety of goings on took place in those woods, and I suspect some was gambling. I know from some of the finds, a lot of good times were had there. Mud, I am going to re-work that piece and dig foil readings up. Guys, there are some good hunters in our club and Terry, Chris and Gerald are just a few. Terry once dug 3 silver halves out of one hole and the only reason it wasn't 4 was because he let a buddy dig the last signal. Which, was a 4th half. Another member had a beautiful C S spur at our Jan meeting, so there are some good diggers around here. Anyway, thanks everyone for the kind remarks. HH jim tn

Beautiful coins Jim. You sure find your share of silver and what a great honey spot to detect in . Congratulations Ezra.

Way to go Jim. I should have gone with you this morning. All I found was a bunch of stinking gold and silver rings.

Absolutely awesome Jim. I was wondering where you have been. I'm guessing you got a break in the weather there in TN. It was 40- something here yesterday and we hit 76 today. Lol. Glad to see you back!

Thanks Neita, i haven't been to far away. I was swinging the Tek Omega for a week, so wasn't posting any finds here. But, it is good to be back. Near mid 70's here for us as well. Under a tornado watch right now. HH jim tn
