I got there early as Sherry was going to have testing. Since Sherry was asleep and she had a roommate I could not stay in the room so went to the waiting room. There was an elderly lady there sleeping on one of the overstuffed chairs. She started talking about her husband and how he is in Cardiac Care. I told her I would pray for her husband. She thanked me. A little while later she returned with a couple other women with her. She was distraught and the other women said she should not be alone. Then the Hospital Chaplain came in and introduced himself to her. Her husband had passed away.
The woman tried calling relatives and letting them know of 'Bob's passing away' and it was tough. I noticed the Chaplain had no Bible. I had mine and wrote down several references and verses about God's comfort, mourners will be comforted, etc. and handed the note to the Chaplain. He looked at the note and said Thank You. I left the room to go check to see if Sherry had come back from her testing.
Sherry returned and I was telling her of the poor lady losing her husband. The visitors to the lady in the bed next to Sherry's asked if I were a minister. Sherry said yes, he is a lay minister. We had a good talk and even found out we were from the same hometown when growing up.
Later there was another Code Blue. I prayed, as did Sherry, for whoever that was for.
I probably looked more like an Amish preacher the way I was attired, proudly displaying my cross for all to see.
Added to this Sherry had a couple birds come land on the ledge next to her window....2 doves that cooed and preened and stared at me and Sherry.
Sherry is home now. We are all tired to say the least. Casey had a graduation dinner tonight that was great as she received several awards for working hard, attendance, etc. We were so proud of her.
Long day..hope we all get a good night's sleep tonight.
