Was at pool last night showing my teamates the seated I found last week and one guy told me to hunt an empty lot they own! I have been trying to figure out who owned it for a long time! Right near down town. I got tuckered out digging so many signals I will have to go back and cover the rest. I know I missed some stuff.

The first first is an 1861 Counterfeit Seated Quarter! My first counterfeit coin! Sure, I would have liked it to be real but I was not at all upset when I saw what it was. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

My second first came a little bit later. My first silver thimble! It is very nice except a little squished. It has churches or schools all the way around it. Probably would be worth a little money if I could get it straight with out breaking it. Anyone have any info on old thimbles?

Found a cool old Queen City Bakery token. Has to be pretty old. Also a neat heart shaped rabies dog tag.

Last find to show is the first silver I ric'd this year! <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> Lucky for me someone ric'd the date right off years ago!
I got a new motherboard I am going to attempt to install. Never done that before. So if I ain't around for a few days thanks in advance for any comments and Happy hunting! <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

Ric, How do you know it is counterfiet? I wouldn't believe that from only one persn. 2005 Red book say they changed the dies and on the value it ranges from good-$15.00 to MS-63-$400.00.Lots of shakey dealers will tell you that.Nice finds.

Unless they minted some out of copper/nickel that rusts and turns red, then I would guess it is probably fake. <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
I don't take any coins to my local dealer. He grades XF+ coins at good then wants to buy them. <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D"> I took an 1827 bust half in sweet shape to him and he offered me $10 for it and said no-one else would give more. Some silly guy on ebay gave me $53 for it. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
 
I was actually pretty darn happy when I saw what the quarter was. I thought it was a token till I saw the eagle. Then I thought I might have had a CW token which I have never found either. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">

I just might do that! I have another cheesy computer online if I have problems.
What the deal is, I bought a used Asus A7n8x deluxe mobo dirt cheap. I have some old shuttle p.o.s. right now that keeps shutting down windows. (May just need a fresh install of win2000 pro but I got this board with everything in the box for $30 shipped <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">)So what I have to do is swap my 1700+ on this board and flash the bios. I think I can handle that but have never done it before.
What scares me is that everyone says I will probably have problems with my old hard drive not playing right with the new board. May not read it because it will have the files from my old board on it or something like that. I am going to wipe the hard drive first. But if it don't work I won't have a clue what to do after that! <img src="/metal/html/biggrin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":D">
 
I assume you've got a new case for your new board? Also, are you flashing the bios just because its a good practice or because you need to support a new device; maybe the cpu? If the board doesnt support that processor without flashing the bios, you definitely don't want to flash it with that processor on the board.
As far as the hard drive goes, the most you would have to do is reinstall windows. The drive itself should work just fine with the new motherboard; its the drivers installed in Windows that wont like your new board. NT based systems (NT, 2000, XP) don't like being switched to a new board and usually blue screen if you try to do it.
So if you really want to keep the OS as you have it loaded now, the only way to do it is to connect your drive up to your new board and then boot up your Windows CD and do a manual repair install. If the manual repair install doesnt work, you can reinstall over the existing OS installation without losing your applications, by forcing the OS to install to the same Windows directory. That will throw your service pack & drivers back to the versions that the CD has, and allow you to use the new board. Upon rebooting, you will have to install the drivers for your new devices and reinstall the service packs & security fixes. That method WONT work if you don't have a Microsoft Windows CD. The Restore CD's that manufacturers like to include only RESTORE the system per their specs; it won't let you install Windows the way you want or reinstall using these methods. Additionally, you won't be able to use your Restore CD to install Windows for your new motherboard. Even if the build would work, most Restore CD's recognize their own motherboards and won't install on anything else.
Your other option would be to connect the drive up to another bootable system and delete the Windows/Winnt & Program Files directories, NTLDR & Boot.INI files and then reinstall Windows. That would of course blow out your programs but would allow you to keep any other documents, movies, music that you had on the drive without moving them somewhere else. If your drive is partitioned in NTFS you can't boot to a DOS disk and delete the folder there as DOS doesnt see NTFS partitions without a third party app like NTFSDos.
I buy a new board about once a year, and when I do, I boot to another drive or put the drive in a different working system and wipe out those directories and then reinstall Windows. I have a 250GB and 80GB drive in this system since I do a lot of video editing, so it would be too much work to copy the data elsewhere in order to reload Windows.
So none the less, its not necessary to format the drive; that's just the cleanest way to do it. Let me know if you run into problems or need help, as this is what I do for a living. (Network Administrator)

This board is the older 1.04 version. The new ones out are 2.x something. The new bios supports 400fsb. Which I don't have any pc3200 memory yet anyway, but thought I would go ahead and do it now.
I plan on wiping out the hard drive anyway. I bought this computer used almost 2 years ago and it is still full of his crap. It is something I have been wanting to do for a while but I am lazy.
I have windows 2000 pro on disk.
I just recently bought a used antec server case on ebay. It's huge. Full of fans. Only thing I hate about it is that there are no front USB ports. I am thinking about buying a card reader/fan controller/usb/firewire/sata/audio front panel. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)"> This one below. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
 
Nice. I never really did like those kinds of front panels, but some people do. Whatever floats your boat...
Yeah you should be fine with the bios flash then. Just make sure your power is secure. Don't do it during a storm or anything; and if you have a UPS it would be a good idea to use it. If for any reason you lose power during the flash your motherboard is toast (unless you send it off to be reprogrammed).
You probably already know this but in order to run 400FSB you do have to have a 400FSB CPU and all PC3200 RAM, no mixing of types. I can't remember if the 1700+ has a 400FSB or not. Make sure you have a good power supply too; anything less than 400w with that system would be pushing it. (unless it is an <STRONG>extremely stable</STRONG> 350w)
