2 Indians

Rob (IL)

New member
They tore up the street in front of the high school. Well Saturday in between the drizzle I gave it a try. I found these two Indians a 68 and 80. I don't find many of these around here as the sites have been hit hard. I was using the 8" excelerator but they weren't deep. Their VDI's were in around 55. Rob

Nice finds Rob. I wished more guys would post there finds on the forum. Thanks for sharing. HH Dennis in Idaho

Real beauties Rob! Thanks for mentioning the VDI #.

I love to see those Indians and you've got some oldies there. Have you graded the 1868 cent? Fantastic finds Rob and thanks so much for sharing. WOW........AGAIN!!!!

When I've found Indians, the VDI bounces quite a bit. Do you think it's because of the nickel content in them?

OK, now here's the Indian cent I found the other day.....not near anything like yours, but still an Indian. Also a cut token good for 5 cents in trade. HH to all.... Nancy

Nice finds Nancy. You find more oldies than me. Mine jumped around also, that's why I said, " in the fifties". I never had a coin graded. Rob

Rob, You can grade your coin yourself with a loupe. Just go by the "red" book.... (realize that since it was in the ground and green, it's not worth what the book value states) But still a VERY nice find!

For all Indian Head Types:

G-4 GOOD -- No LIBERTY visible
VG-8 VERY GOOD -- At least three letters of LIBERTY readable on head band
F-12 FINE -- LIBERTY completely visible
VF-20 VERY FINE -- Slight but even wear on LIBERTY
EF-40 EXTREMELY FINE -- LIBERTY sharp. All other details sharp. Only slight wear on ribbon end.

After you do this, and determine what the grade is, the book will give you an estimate of value. Your 1868 is a keeper! Let me know what you believe your grade is and I can give you the estimate of value. VERY nice find Rob!

HH to all,
Nancy

My guess it would be a G4. Rob

Rob, a G-4 would be a $45 coin. :yikes: What a great find there! Congratulations! :clapping:

Hey Rob, that will pay for about 12.5 gallons of gas for your trip back to Texas this fall. LOL HH Dennis in Idaho

I don't think so Dennis, my truck burns diesel. Rob
